Was it posted somewhere? Or maybe I asked this already and I forgot, sorry if that is the case. All I know is a few months ago, chat channels without passwords started (randomly) giving themselves a password which is the same as the channel name. For example, let's say we have a chat channel called "phatlewt" without a password. One day, my autojoin fails. I try to discover why. It says that I am giving the wrong password, even though it never had one. So I enter /join phatlewthatlewt and it works. No player gave it a password. Daybreak's server did by itself. Now, we are at the point where every single chat channel that was created without a password now has a password which is the same as the channel name. This didn't happen all at once, but randomly over weeks. Why did Daybreak do this? Is it working as intended? Really, it is just more annoying than anything else.
Oh, the stupid forum software changed Code: /join phatlewt:phatlewt to /join phatlewthatlewt. When I want a smilely, I'll add one, I don't want software adding one. Geez.
This thread has been up for 10 days and not one reply. I think this is a record. I've created dozens of threads and this may be the only one with no comment from anyone. So, no one knows why this happens to chat channels and if it is intended? I know someone at Daybreak must know the answer but they have either missed this thread or do not feel they have the time to answer it. Again, it strikes me as strange and a bug for channels to give themselves passwords. I guess I have to create a bug report over at the Daybreak Community Issue Tracker.
This was addressed in the bug thread for the patch. https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/live-update-bugs-08-16-17.243281/page-5
I didn't see it mentioned anywhere among the many bugs reported. I didn't read those threads closely, since they seemed to be about new chat issues, while this one is months old. So, the fact that channels that were not given passwords by players have been given passwords by Daybreak's chat servers at random times, the password given being the same as the channel name, is being addressed? Thank you for that information, since I have not seen anyone address that issue, only other chat issues. I will assume it is all part of the chat fixes being worked on then. Again, I have not seen it mentioned anywhere.
