DCUO Summer Seasonal Event – 2018 Rewards Guide
    Available: 20th of June 2018 - 25th July 2018

The 2018 update to the DCUO Tides of War: Summer Seasonal Event sees the addition of a new 3-piece “Hula” style set. There are 20 new base items, including the awesome animated Parrot pet and Fire Pit. There are also 2 new collections, with the reward for one of them being the new Bubble Aura.

    Contents

    New Items Summary
The following items were added to the vendor this year:
    • 3 Part “Hula” Style
    • 20x Base Items
    • 2x Collections
See below for more information on the new additions.

    Currency Acquisition
The Sand Dollar is the currency of the DCUO Summer Seasonal Event. This year, you can acquire currency from the following:
    • Strait to Metropolis (Open World Mission): 5x Sand Dollars
    • Atlantean Outpost (4-player Alert): 5x Sand Dollars
    • DCUO Marketplace: 50x Sand Dollars (600MC)
    Weekly Totals
Each week, a player is able to obtain 70 Sand Dollars per week by completing both the Strait to Metropolis Mission and the Atlantean Outpost instance.

5x Sand Dollars (Strait to Metropolis) + 5x Sand Dollars (Atlantean Outpost) x 7 Days = 70 Sand Dollars.

The event is scheduled to last 35 days, meaning that players can acquire at least 350 Sand Dollars per character, by completing both missions every day for the duration of the event.

    Hula Style

The Hula style is a 3 piece style set for both male and female characters inspired by traditional Hula dancers. The total cost of this set is 75 Sand Dollars and upon completing it, players are awarded the “Hula Master” feat, a 1 star feat worth 10 feat points.

The major difference between the male and female versions is that the female version supports a colour locked coconut bra, to preserve the innocence of the game’s community, whilst the male version shows off your character’s bare chest.

Another interesting titbit about the Hula style is that this is the first “skirt” style in the game to use physics to alter it’s shape. Typically, skirts (like the Toga style and Wizard style) are sculpted

Other items include an animated ceiling fan and an interactive shower which you can switch on and water will flow from the showerhead. Most items continue with the on-going Tiki/Beach Party theme that has been done for the past few years, allowing you to expand your summer collection.

The Parrot has audio, which isn’t included in the video featured above due to an error whilst capturing the footage. He will squark and make various other parrot noises, including saying the occasional “Hello”.

Upon collecting the Parrot base item, players will unlock the “Release the Crackers!” feat. Initially this feat was worth 0 stars, but in a hotfix on the 28th of June 2018, the feat was given 2 stars/25 feat points.

    Collections

There are 2 new collections to find in the DCUO Summer Seasonal 2018 event. One rewards a bundle of 5 Marks of Victory. The other awards the new Bubble aura.

The Bubble aura is quite similar but not exactly the same as the rare, exclusive gift Seafoam Aura which was given away to players for free as part of the Countdown to Water event. The biggest difference between both auras is that the Bubble aura features sprites of bubbles, rather than the glowing orbs that feature on the Seafoam aura.

No feat points are attached to either of these items, so it’s purely down to whether or not you want the rewards or not.

    Conclusion
There are quite a lot of items to collect this time around. If you want everything, you’re looking at a total of 436 Sand Dollars (44 Days of running the content). If you’re just looking for feats with feat points, you’re looking at 330 Sand Dollars (33 Days).

Assuming you don’t want to spend Replay Badges or purchase the currency directly off the Marketplace, you should be utilising your alts to help you acquire everything (as always). All of the base items are tradable, as are the collections. Therefore it’s wise to utilise alts.

    My recommendations, as always, are:

    • Purchase the non-tradable stuff on your main character.
    • Purchase the tradable stuff on your alt characters and send to your main character for consumption, via the Shared Bank.
    • Alternatively, consume items on your alts, if they are more relevant for your alt characters, and unlock the feats on your main via feat unlocking.
    • All tradable items can be purchased off the Broker, too, so you can utilise the Broker to help you out.
    • Don’t stop running the event, even if you have everything you want. Currency will carry over to next years event and will give you a head start on next year’s rewards. I start the 2018 Summer event with 100 Sand Dollars, because I continued to grind after getting everything I wanted last year.
Thanks for reading and good luck!
