Will The Voice Pack Update Include V Commands?

The current voice commands in Planetside 2 are inadequate. We lack the tools to communicate with everyone in our empire as not everyone has mics. Will the voice pack update include PS1 V commands?

    whow... that look over-complicated...

some of these are already covered in the Q menu selection.
and some will (i hope) come as part of the player generated mission. soon(tm)

Even though the PC master race people would roll their eyes (even though I'm a pc player myself, just too bad to belong to anything called master) I think selection menu's like the Q menu would be best here.

    something like:
V would open a main circle divided into 4-6 options:
    1)offensive 2)defensive 3)assistance 4) air 5)vehicle 6)other
and each one gets it's on 4-6 sub options.
for example "assistance" options would include:
    1) Need ammo 2) repair 3)heal 4)cover me 5)smoke 6)sensor dart?
    so:
    request ammo: V+3 (assistance) + 1 (ammo)
and requesting smoke would be V+ 4+ 5

the most used commands people will learn really quickly (like my worked to a stub V+8 ;) )
    (which should be made

It seems PS1 copied the concept from the Tribes series, why PS2 doesn't is a mystery to me

Or you know... you could just use voice comms like regular people from the 21st century. It's a crap ton easier to hold X and say "Oi, get over here and fix this busted **** whatcha doova!" than it is to learn how to play a piano just because you're afraid to let the world hear you work your way through puberty.

Holy **** dude it would be faster to just type in chat
What's wrong with the current ones? They get the basic info down fine, along with spotting.
  6. Nocturn0l

The difference is, everyone who's around you can hear these voice commands. This gives players that are not in the same platoon, or not in any platoon an easy way to coordinate.
  7. eldarfalcongravtank

nothing wrong with them but they lack a lot of helpful voice commands right now, like "negative", "area clear", "need a gunner", "hop in", "bail out", "nice shot", "good job", "go go go", "move out", "defend this perimeter", "get out of my way"(for vehicle drivers), "i need motion sensor assistance", "where's my pizza?", etc.

that said, i wouldnt really want such a huge number of voice commands like in the op. that would be overkill imo. you're better off typing specific things in region/squad/platoon chat rather than searching for it in the voicecomm menu

This game needs a slash spit.
  9. maxkeiser

I love the voice (V) menu as it is. It should be something that is never changed or removed - only added to.
  10. Spartan 117

Of course. The (V) menu is already in place & everyone is familiar with it. These additions would expand upon the existing model. Rather than being limited to 0-9 however, after hitting (V) any other letter on the keyboard could be used to communicate a different message. I know this looks complicated to those not familiar with it, but I assure you its amazing. One of the best Planetside 1 features.
  11. Oraculum

I'd hope so, we definitely need some more voice commands.

I try to use voice chat to communicate with people, but i've often had people tell me they either have ingame voice comms turned off, or they don't understand what i'm saying due to a lack of english skills on their part.

Atleast with the voice commands they recieve it in their native tongue if they have the game set to their language.

Q menu is terrible. Becomes extremely difficult when your teammate is moving and i always end up clicking on the wrong icon because of the strange circle menu.

You're disregarding people who speak other languages, dont have mics, have broken mics, dont have the voice featured turned on because some people are incredibly irritating and people who are physically incapable of speaking.

i would like to see taunts and selfpraising? seperated,
when i run of our spawn sundy i wanna say "FREEDOM or DEATH!!!" and not tell everybody how awesome i am lol
  15. Taemien

I think the V command works as it is, and like others should only be added to.

We don't need to use every letter in the alphabet. Leave 0-9 as is. But have maybe 4-6 letters (q, w, e, r, t, and y, would work), that open a second menu that has numbers.

So say you wish to say "Incoming Aircraft" you might push v-q-1 or something. Sequences that would be easy to remember so you could press them without having to look at the menu.

I'd love to see this system have squad blips. So that if you indicate a sniper position, but can't see them (they are cloaked), and can't spot with Q, you could do a v-e-2 or something that would warn of a "Enemy infiltrator, spotted" or "We've got a cloaker nearby" in addition it marks where it was spotted at on the minimap (if in a certain range), for a few seconds to everyone in the user's squad.
  16. Bindlestiff

Yep, the amount of friends I've added when I actually just want to add them to squad is more than I care to remember.
  17. Kite Carling

The v-r-g method for shouting "repair the generator!" etc worked really well in Tribes and PS1 - it was much easier than it sounds.

Also, in-game voice commands can be localised, so for someone like me playing from Hong Kong I don't need to learn a host of south-east Asian phrases.

Besides, I've found phrasebooks to be frankly unhelpful in regards to PS2: they're fine for asking where the nearest hotel is, but are largely silent when in comes to 'advancing enemy armour columns', for example.
  18. -MJ12-

Wow, are we supposed to memorize that?
I would rather type "Sorry to bother brother, but it seems there is someone behind you, and it seems he will be shooting at you any moment" before I find the right command to warn someone in the heat of battle.

To those saying it looks way too complicated: - The OP just pasted a poorly formatted list.
The voice comm system in PS1 was very effective. All of those commands are just 3 key presses (4 for some). The current system is 2. The Q-menu is just awkward.

    How it worked:

VV.. Quick commands (help, thanks, excellent, taunt..)
VW.. x Spotted (aircraft, vehicles, troops..)
VA.. Attack their x (generator, control console, terminals..)
VD.. Defend our x (generator, control console, terminals..)
VN.. We need x (medic, repairs, transport, gunner..)
VR.. Repair our x (generator, terminals..)
VT.. Tactical commands (regroup, attack, spread out..)
VSA.. I'm attacking their x (generator, control console, terminals..)
VSD.. I'm defending our x (generator, control console, terminals..)
VSR.. I'm repairing our x (generator, control console, terminals..)

Planetside 1 voice comms = VVF
