What is wrong with having WW2 German looking helmets?

Intimidation? That's exactly the kind of uniform the TR should be having. If you're offended by your enemy's uniform, I can't say much more than suck it up buttercup.

You can't be serious. You have it completely backwards.

First of all, lets focus on aircraft, because that's where I think you're most mistaken.

German aircraft of WW2 looked like garbage. Complete trashy boxy unsexy murder machines.

Now if you're talking tanks, the Soviet's use of sloped armor has the Germans beat as well, in looks, and on the battlefield. But that's the subject for another post.

Well, aesthetics are based on opinion which is completely subjective.

The FW 190 does indeed look like crap.
However I find the ME 109 the best looking aircraft of the period. I even find the JU 87 (stuka) a very good looking plane.

But where they completely trample the opposition in terms of looks is in the tanks (Panther and Tigers) which are just intimidating and awesome looking, and uniforms imo.

You are comparing early war german aircraft with machines that have been developed later in the war to better counter those german aircraft.
Later german aircraft looked more aerodynamic and sleek. See ME262 "Swallow" for example. Check out early war american aircraft and you´ll see they´re not really looking much better or even different to german, or generally early war, designs.

They are not dissimilar in when they appeared on the battlefield at all.

The shape of the helmet alone doesn't bother me. Could it have used some breaking up...yeah I agree from an aesthetic perspective there that it was very plain. But I also know that Tray/SOE isn't allowing it for PC reasons. Ok, fine. But...

Not allow a helmet that represented attempted genocide.
Allow a hat that represented massacres of anyone that didn't follow the dictator, or just cus the dictator felt they might be a threat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katyn_massacre
And that was just Polish Officers. Soviet commissars slaughtered a hell of alot of people, including their own.

I say this because I'm first generation US born. I have family that lived under soviet rule in Poland. So I'm well aware that the Russians and Germans of the time (of their regimes) were both brutal. Both Covers (the hat and helmet) are signs of oppression. No Doubt about it.

But I'm ok with both because I'm not PC, there are worse symbols out there, and this is a game. So I say this; I am more offended by the double standard SOE is going to play by than by either german style helmet or commissar hat.

Not really. That's a myth.

The Germans were not the first to place gyroscopic stabilizers in their tanks. That was the United States and Allied countries.

The Germans did not have the Nordon bombsight. That was the United States and Allied countries.

The Germans did not invent RADAR. That was Great Britain.

The Germans did not develop ASW. That was the Western Allies.

The Germans did not invent shoulder-fired rocket launchers. That was the United States, and was later copied by the Germans.

The Germans did not invent Blitzkreig. That was a British development. Though, to their credit, they were the first to practice it to my knowledge.

The Germans did not develop nuclear weapons.

I can go on and on and on. I can also go on to say that most of the German advances in tech were also paralleled by the Allies. You know infrared? The United States Marine Corps was using it in the Pacific against the Japanese. The point is, this whole "Germany superior, everyone else dumb knuckle draggers" bullocks is just that. Bullocks.

I do think the final result looks very good. It may be simply that they don't want TR being likened to the national socialist party any more than the other two factions already argue . Not that they are that much against the look. They do owe Wolfenstein 3D some credit for the FPS genre after all.

As I said, the aircraft is where the assertion was most egregious. However, if you're going to talk about German tanks, the only ones that look "good" were the Tiger I and Tiger II, but they were made in such small quantities they pretty much don't even count. And if you did count them, you'd have to include all the other tanks that were made in small quantities, including those made by the Allies, in which case German tanks would still lose.

The helmets look awesome! But TR are communist scum and shouldn't have it.

Germany did research it and was to my knowledge not that far away from a breakthrough. However allied operations against facilities that were needed to provide the resources for this research put a stop to it.

Disgruntled/exiled/persecuted germans were part of the Los Alamos project.
So yeah, not saying what you said is wrong, but it´s simply not as black & white. I wouldn´t compare any WW2 nation with the VS or NC or TR. It simply doesn´t fit, there might be similiarities somewhere but thats about it.

I don´t think that helmet is particularly offending, not anymore than the commissar head, which would be offending even in name by SOE´s standards applied to the helmet in question here.

As opposed to what? What do the Allies have that would in your opinion look better than a King Tiger of a Jadgpanther? I didn't even post the Tiger 1 because it's a blocky looking thing. It's imposing, but the Panther and King Tiger look better. Basically all the later-war German tanks with sloped armour look cool.

Quantity produced has nothing to do with aesthetics.
