Tweaking the game to get most FPS

    Hello, first of all i will let my PC specs and the frames i get in different situations to have an idea of how this fix could improve your perfomance

    My pc specs are:
    OS: Windows XP 32bits
    RAM: 2 GB DDR2
    CPU: AMD Athon X2 250 running at 3.01GHz
    GPU: Nvidia Gforce 9500 GT 1GB DDR2

    In free areas my fps are arround 50-60, in the warpgate arround 20-30, in middle combat they stay between 20-30 and in big combats they stay between 15-25 (They drop to less than 10 if i look directly to explosions in the big combats)

    I just tested this on my computer so maybe in some computers this tweak will have less impact than in others

    Ok, we start with the tutorial:

    1) You must go where you have installed your game and find the file UserOptions.ini
    2)Make a back-up of that file so if you do anything wrong you still having the original
    3)Open the file ''UserOptions.ini'' with notepad or any other text editor you use
    4)Delete everything inside it
    5)PASTE THE NEXT LINES WITHOUT CHANGE ANYTHING IN YOUR EMPTY UserOptions.ini

    6)You can enter to the game and enjoy it with 20 or 30 more FPS

    This can have you guys a little calmed until the devs finish with the optimizations (Yes, they are doing it) and I dont think this can be considerer as hacking since the viewdistance, render quality and resolution gets reduced so you will find hard to spot and attack far targets.
  2. Roxon

    Thx for this. Since i take this config (but still with GraphicsQuality=3,TextureQuality=1) i have much more FPS (25-30+ in big fights) ( before 15-20).

    But i would change the max. audio channels, it really sucks without much sound.. Try this:

    [Display]
    FullscreenRefresh=0
    Maximized=0
    RenderQuality=1.000000
    FullscreenWidth=1920
    FullscreenHeight=1080

  3. Cloverfield

    The problem with that is that it will reduce my FPS a bit, but thank you anyway, about the audio channels, i lowered them and the performance of the game improved a lot, that's why i have it low. Glad it worked for you :D
  4. Louisa necib

    wow my computer totally dominates the OP;s but im getting 10 fps. I went out and bought win 8 last night to try to get more fps (was running xp 32 bit like you lol)

    trying this twill edit to see if it works.
    didnt seem to do anything for me still get 10 fps constant.

    nice post though
  5. Cloverfield

    Well as i mentioned in the start, it may not work like it did for me in some computers, but you could search some other ways to fix the fps or wait until some optimization, thank you for you feedback.
    *EDIT*
    Also remember that it's the game fault, not the computer.A lot of users with very good computers are having the same problems than us
  6. Louisa necib

    Just for fun i tried what Roxon proposed and my game crashed on launch. I deleted the UserOptions.ini file to restore everything to defaults and it worked great. So i guess if you are having problems launching delete this file :D
  7. Cloverfield

    Deleting the file will return the graphics to default, my UserOptions.ini was configurated to put some things in lowest (below low...yeah you cant put lowest from the game so i modiffied the UserOptions.ini), so in fact, deleting it will give me 5 less fps :oops:
  8. Peete

    You should set RenderFlora to Off as well.
  9. Cloverfield

    Thanks, i will try it :)
  10. Synchro

    I benchmarked alot of games with the use of Windows 7 and 8 in comparison.

    Sad to inform you that Windows 7 performs much better in any role than windows 8, Windows 8 isn't made for gaming. You should stick to windows 7 64 bit instead.
  11. stilliffex

    I got a 10fps boost or so from windows 8. You might have benched a lot of games but did you bench Planetside 2?
  12. Hatamoto

    or you had a less well setup windows 7 configuration? :p i seriously doubt windows 8 improves this game atm
  13. Ckorus

    I'm also running windows 8 and in most games I either get the same FPS or higher. I get 20 fps more on Borderlands 2 for example.

    I already had W8 when I got PS2, so can't comment on which is better, but I have vsync enabled and I never drop below 52 fps in big fights.

    System specs for moi:

    i5 3570k @ 4.2ghz
    GTX 670 OC
    8gb Patriot RAM 1600mhz
    1tb HDD
    Corsair A50 cooler
    Aerocool 6th element case
    OCZ ZS750 PSU
    Windows 8 Pro

    I find that my cpu is the bottleneck most of the time. As far as I know, this game is heavily CPU bound so if you're running older systems, a cheap CPU upgrade is probably a good idea for your mobo socket. Even an i3 or phenom II X4/6 is a decent upgrade for little monies if your cpu is getting on a bit!
  14. Artifex78

    As with any new OS, driver support sucks in the beginning. It will get better eventually.
  15. MegaVidFan1

    Dude i cannot thank you enough! I only got 25 FPS on a good day, and now I can actually play this game! It was my FPS lag that was killing me, i had to redo the sound file, but other than that this was amazing!
