Suit Certs, Which ones and Why?

I am having an extreme difficulty understanding how these work. A friend of mine got 2 different suit abilities and there is only 1 slot. Are you really not able to cert extra Grenade while having a lower recharge time on our personal shield? Can anyone explain how that works exactly?

If you are only able to actually have 1 Suit Cert to use at a time... which one did you pick and why?

It is fairly cheap to get the first ranks of these abilities, so you can test them all out at low levels.

If you are solo or in a small group without medics fighting against infantry, then faster shield recharge is best.
If the above with friendly medics around, then extra health is the way to go.
If you are fighting against vehicles then explosive damage reduction is going to save your life occasionally.

As for the other options, they are self-explanatory.

The idea of only having one at a time active is to prevent high-level players from being "super soldiers" compared to medium level specialised and low level highly specialised characters. Gaining more certs gives you more options of how to specialise a limited range of improvements.

Pretty much, if the certs are in the same category that means they occupy the same slot.

Awesome thanks for the info guys. Makes sense, time to max out my shield regen!

I prefer the durability of extra health myself, and the first two ranks are cheap (at 1 and 10 respecitively, I believe the shield recharge is the same).

I'd agree with Ganjis that it's most useful with friendly medics around - I regularly roll with a squad with a medic, and that extra health has saved me multiple times (plus it gives my medic extra xp!).

    I do the following:
    • HA has flak armor, because I deal with so much of it.
    • LA has the capacitor
    • Medic has the ammunition belt, for grenades.
    • Engineer has the flak armor as well, because my playstyle is to repair vehicles, turrets, ect.
    • Infil has nanoweave, because if I'm being shot I'm dead anyways.
    • MAX is useless

I wonder if the Flak Jacket armor reduces the Lasher self-kill effect...

I am a big fan of Shield/Nanite for my TR HA. The shield toggle is important to use or the effectiveness is nill. But remember you'll eventually have 3 loadouts, I do an Anti-Tank, Anti-Air and straight assault. For AA, I dedicate my time to protecting the sundy from all the air threats in the game, so, I am sure to have the extra rocket slots so I stay in the fight before resupplying. AT was specific for dealing with tank threats, and the assault loadout was armed with AA and Shield/Nanite for supporting the assault.
