This morning, when I brought up the Planetside 2 launcher, it downloaded a small amount (perhaps a few hundred K) of data and then spent a couple seconds "Installing" before the "Play" option became available. My question: Is this some type of routine, non-patch behavior (transfering player data or some such, perhaps) or was it a small patch, as the "Installing" notice certainly suggests? If it was the former, fine. But if it was the latter, I find the lack of accompanying patch notes and/or announcment unsettling. Given how many of us are struggling to develop our own workarounds for onging, game-breaking bugs (no-damage, de-sync, etc), not knowing what has changed in the game, or even IF changes were indeed made, is quite aggravating. After poking around the in-game screens and even digging into various branches of the install directory, I can't find a version number listing for the game, so I can't determine if that was incremented this morning. Perhaps the version number is listed somewhere obvious and I'm simply dense (a distinct possiblity). If not though, it's pretty lame to omit that bit of info. The PatcherProgress.txt log in \PlanetSide2\LaunchPad.libs\ seems to verify that *something* was downloaded and then installed. It would sure be nice to know what it was and whether it would be worth my time to attempt to play again (or retry various workarounds possibilities to see if they might now alleviate no-damage issues following changes to the game, however minor).
