    NICE WORK Slaem....

Coupel of questions, what loadout do you use on your flash?
I see you like to run enhanced trageting in the video, do you find you hit quite a few mines? EOD Hud or even Regen seem to be a better option to me?
You do all of your shooting out of first pirson, have you got a little dot on your monitor or do you use something else to aim in third person?

thanks for the watch...... unlucky on that tank...... after alllll that bloody work!! :D

if you are going to hunt tanks, it's agood idea to use enhanced targeting.
you can use medcits to heal you.
but it's important to see how much life this tank has left.
couse you can oneclip them, from half health, and you propaly won't get the chance, to get a second clip into them

to aim in third person, you can use youre head. as orientation. the point is a little bit above[/quote]

I used to do this, but for some reason, my game hasn't let me auto-resupply on either medikits or EMP nades since the resource revamp!

    Thanks! :D

    For AV:
I use maxed-out Fury with Racer, Composite Armor, Flak, and Enhanced Targeting.
I used to have medikits in my loadout, but as I mentioned above, the game hasn't let me buy any since the resource revamp.

    For AI:
I usually use Kobalt (but use Renegade situationally).
I run it with Scrapper, Nanite Auto Repair, Advanced Shield Capacitor, and Regen 3.

I'm a Flash Specialist, and I'm even further niched as the #1 AV Flash specialist by a huge margin.
Because of this tendency, I'm usually running my AV loadout.
I generally only fight infantry when they instigate the fight, or when they unfortunately need to be overcome in order to take out a vehicle safely.

In my time experimenting with EOD HUD 3, I found that it was useless.

The problem is that I'm usually running at full speed:
If I hit a mine, it's often because it renders late.
By the time it shows up on my screen, there's not much I can do to maneuver to avoid it.

    As for the Regen:
I use that with my AI loadout, as mentioned above.
Once again, I used to consume medikits to regenerate health with my AV loadout, but the game won't let me buy them anymore.

I have a special pattern that I draw on my screen with a fine-tip dry-erase marker.
I'll share this pattern in my flash guide as soon as it's released.

I occasionally misplace my dry erase and go without it, and I still do just fine under these circumstances:
I initially learned to aim very well in third person without the assistance of a dry erase pattern.
My first 3,000 or so vehicle kills were made without drawing a special pattern on my screen.

Haha, yeah, it wasn't a "best of" video - just some fun footage I grabbed from yesterday's gameplay to match the video.

In fact, the footage is grabbed from precisely 3 fights.
Those first 6 kills (and the 8th kill) in the video clip were all from the same fight, and I had a LOT more options to choose from, too. :D
I wanted to include a lot more video, but I trimmed it down to fit the music and didn't want the whole video to show just one fight.

Unfortunately, stuff like that does happen, but a flash-for-vanguard trade in a duel is alright in my eyes. :p

Question: Do you advocate hugging armor in order to avoid being attacked? I has noticed sundies are good to hug when passing, but then some tanks will hit me unless there is a little hill i can use to lower myself below their guns. Any general advice on which units are the most hug-able and which we should not bother with.

Also where are the best spots to hug tanks? I assume with sundies its everywhere but in front because of roadkill but id love to hear which places you feel most safe.

I'll go over the etiquette of appropriate physical contact in depth with my guide ;)

It will also have a bunch of other patterns of engagement, broken down into my 3-phase model (beginning, middle, end) for dueling heavily armored vehicles.

I have a few well-refined patterns for handling each phase under different circumstances.
Writing them all out here would take an entire page or more, and I'd still have to write them later for my guide.
I'll put it off until then, to save my writing for an extremely comprehensive guide.

I had fun scoring the last video to music, so here's another one I put together this morning (using footage from a couple of days ago):

My god, why didn't I notice that the crosshair seems to be just above my head. This certainly makes things easier.

Also the trick with the enhanced targeting seems so intuitive but I failed to notice that too.

    Thanks for the knowledge.

    Cheers for the tips Salem!!

Still cant believe you run speed though........ i can even keep on the bloody wheels with scrapper....... guess i gots some work to be doing!

Looking forward to reading the guide.

    Stay tuned for more!

Believe it or not, I actually PREFER the slippery handling from Racer.
That's actually the reason why I switched from Scrapper to Racer when they modified Flash handling a couple months back.
I need the slippery handling so I can use my brakes to drift and powerslide into shots.

The handling for the latest version of Racer feels like the old Scrapper (but with more speed).

    It's coming closer to completion!
I'm putting together these recent highlight videos as I search through my video library for video examples of particular techniques.
I'm a little hesitant to complete the guide too quickly, however, with the recent Flash handling changes on the horizon. Haven't tested them yet.

Awesome video. Never realized Fury Flash could be so devastating, cos I've only died to it a handful of times.

LOL now I can't wait until I have 1000 certs for a Fury-F. This looks like so much fun. Just spent 1000 on a Burster arm on my main...

It is the most fun I have had since I started ps2. Wish I had Salem's down range aim though.

Racer surprised me too. Your control with the speed chassis is fantastic. The powerslide U turns in particular. I ran racer for awhile and it was great for escaping a pursuing harasser. But I couldn't control it well enough for closer-in fighting. I guess I need to find the brake key ;)

I think the magic is those big wheels. Your mind thinks you have better traction, so your hands make it happen :)

I have been using Stealth4, but I see you don't bother. Terrain, speed, and cloak give more survivability than stealth. Composite too apparently.
  15. salembeats

Stealth 8 is what I started out with (back when it had 8 ranks, and you had to REALLY cert a LOT into it!)
Of course, this was back when I played infantry exclusively, and just used the flash to get from A to B.

Stealth doesn't really make a whole lot of sense in a combat role because:

    - If you're not shooting (and you're within combat range) you'd better already be cloaked anyway, and,
    - If you ARE shooting, you show up on the minimap and a nice dust cloud lingers in the arc of your fury shots.

When I started using a Flash for combat, the "conventional wisdom" (which presumably came from a Wrel video, rather than from actual experience) was to run Nanite Auto Repair on a flash in order to repair the smoke trail.

    In my real-life experience, however:
I quickly discovered that by the time you're smoking against tanks, you're probably already dead.
Hence, it's better to prevent that smoke trail from occurring in the first place by using Comp. Armor.

So, all-in-all, I believe that this will make the Flash game stronger (not sure on whether the handling will until I try it in combat for a few weeks):

I haven't touched the live server yet since the update but the flash handled dreamily on the pts.. Only thing is it's nigh impossible to get stuck on your head anymore so you may not need to rely on surger chassis to stay upright.. It makes the speed chassis hands down better.

The cosmetic and shadow changed ought to make tank hunting better too.

Salem did you put together the reticle overlay that you mentioned in am earlier post? I am considering making a T cross hair on my own but I want to see what you use.

I was going to get my guide put together, but I got busy and SOE got behind on their patch (the release date of the patch was going to be the release date of the free version of the guide).

It's a pretty simple shape, but any guide you put together is useful.

heh i would have never thought a flash was that capable, after watching that vid....i may stop trying to learn to fly.
