I bought The Hawk with station cash. It was a great Anti-Air weapon and reasonable against both infantry and armour. You then nerfed it so it was reasonable against air, so-so against infantry and armour.

You have now made it Anti-Air only.

Now we can argue whether that is right all day long. We can argue if it's balanced etc..

The fact is that the Hawk, after this weeks change, is completely different to the one I purchased. So please refund my station cash, let me preview it again, and decide if I want to buy it.

I don't think they implemented that change yet?
  3. Rylan

    It's going this week.

I'm not going to debate laws and such ( I've seen another posts that got shunted to page 2 since ) but I can pretty much guarantee that if they're allowed to do this my only choice will be to refuse to purchase any more Station Cash or memberships.

SoE just need to do what's right here by paying customers.

Shut up. You paid to save time on an unlock. The AA launchers are being made better AA launchers because air is currently too powerful. To stop it from becoming OP, they need to nerf it in some other areas. It's being rebalanced, and its role is changing. Live with it.

If you can get money whenever the devs balance anything, then the devs will be pressured by their bosses not to balance at all. It is reasonable to expect that a video game will be changed post-launch, especially a MMO game that thrives on content updates. The game is changing. The game will be changing for years, unless players like the OP effectively straitjacket SOE into not changing anything.

If I'd bought an AA launcher, and it became a better AA launcher at the cost at not being able to fire at non-air targets, I would be happy. Becuase you buy an AA launcher to kill planes. People moaned because rocket pods were an anti-everything weapon. Well, currently an AA launcher can damage everything. An AA launcher should be a specialist weapon, not a general weapon. Take this into account - its primary role is AA It's now better at AA. Therefore, its primary role has been buffed. A loss of secondary role owing to a buff for a primary role is not a nerf - it's a rebalance. Stop moaning. Get a grip. You were under no obligation to pay for the weapon - you could have unlocked it with certs, as I intend to. As such, you have no right to a refund.

Also, notice that almost everyone is moaning about the AA launcher, but is ignoring the AT launcher.

You got what you paid for AA weapon.

I paid for an Anti Aircraft weapon which advertised a dumb fire mode. As I say, we can argue balance all day long.

ItmeJp made this point on FNO last night and it is a valid Point. Alot of my outfit bought the Hawk because it was used for taking air. But also because the dumbfire was good for tanks. Also to the above point. Its not a balance change, its a fundamental change to a way the weapon works. A balance change would be increasing damage/range, The whole reason this is even an idea is that fact the launcher will no longer be able to dumb fire at enemy tanks (fire without lock-on). Meaning that your remove a major part of why people bought the weapon and why they use it.

No, the update hasn't even been confirmed yet.

AA weapon with the option to dumb fire, that's how they advertised it. I said this last night and I'll say it again.

Do they have the right to drastically change and remove aspects of a weapon/armor etc? Yes.
Is it fair and smart business? No.

I kind of agree with the OP. I dont have the weapon, but - yeah it sounds like a drastic change. Doesnt matter if its OP. If you fundementally change its function set, you SHOULD refund SC.

This is sony though. Good luck.

I should point out, I'm not looking for a refund in the sense of them returning my money, but just giving the station cash back and giving me the option to purchase it again.

This is the same precedent as would be set with a giftcard or voucher.

I bought it and don't mind the re-balance that much. Except for the part where they balance it wrong, all the AA launcher needed was a faster projectile speed.

Yup. 100% with OP on this one. Weapon has fundamentally changed. Refund to everyone who got it (heck, I'd even include people who paid 1000 certs since that's a fair time investment) and then we can decide if we want to buy it back.

It's mostly the loss of dumbfire that bothers me.

Sometimes you just don't have time to lock on an ESF, because it's hovering behind the corner waiting for you to come out, so you look around the corner and dumbfire the missile and retreat before it can kill you.

This possibility will be completely gone. And yes, this happens super often.
Yes, the regular rocket launcher is better at this, but you don't always have the option to switch your loadout.

I'd suggest to just lower its damage on all things but ESFs significantly, but keep the dumbfire.

I'm not going to ask for a refund, but taking away the dumbfire makes it a worse AA weapon, pretty much nullifying the range buff it's getting.

its double xp weekend, stop complaining and deal with the fact that in an online game things may possibly change over time. My IQ goes down every one of these threads I read...

The government is gonna raise the taxes on my dividends next month. I DEMAND THEY GRANDFATHER ME IN WITH MY 15% JUST BECAUSE!!!
  15. FightingFirst

God this forum has gone down the pan. If you did not realise weapons could be changed you are either A) Very Naive B) New to online games or C) Plain stupid. If you buy weapons expect them to be changed. If you dont like it then dont buy. Simples

Love the way that everyone agreeing with this post is using reasonable words while the naysayers are resorting to name calling.

Look at it this way. If it doesn't affect you now, it may do one day soon. Support what is right now and I'll support what is right when it affects something you should get refunded.

I expected weapons to get balanced. If they did I'd be inclined to accept it. A compete change from its advertised use is unacceptable.

If you buy something which is obviously "better" when the unlocks are supposed to be sidegrades, then you have to expect them to be nerfed.

    :edit:

The current AA launcher is the counter to everything.

Lockon vs. air (or 1 shot kill ESF with dummy fire if you get the chance)
Decent damage with small arc when dumbfired vs. armour.
    One hit kill vs. infantry
  18. Rylan

The hawk was never a one shot kill on any craft but again, you're missing the point, the balance is neither here nor there. They totally have the right to balance a weapon but that weapon is no longer the weapon it was advertised as and that weapon cost money*. Those station cash points should be refunded to my account.

I may very well like the new Hawk. I suspect I won't. I also suspect it will only serve to buff air further due to the fact fewer of us will use the hawk. Either way it should be my choice.

*The argument that I bought station cash not a weapon holds no water with me as I've already stated the precedent of sc being comparable to a voucher or gift card and because SC has no other purpose but to buy items in SoE games.

I use the Hawk. I paid real cash to get it and use it for everything just as the OP states. I have no problem of them making this change and expect no money back. I hardly ever used this thing for what it was intended. I dumb fired it into tanks 75% of the time. There was never a reason to use the other two launchers because of this and it is slightly unbalancing the game.

Now I may not use it as much as I did since my main target has always been armor on the field. But, that is the way it goes in an MMO out of the gate tweaking for balance. I have played enough of them to know that this is an inherent fact, things change. My recourse is that the Hawk WILL be better at taking air after Tuesday's patch and better for what it was intended for, and I may get a better kill rate on those ESFs from it accordingly.

My advice to the OP. Do not buy anything for a few months. This game is going to make more changes and add new things. Wait for it to shake out and then spend the money. The rest of us that do not mind change in the name of balance will continue to spend and cover you.
  20. Forblaze

If they refund station cash and not money then the bosses wouldn't care. Sony wouldn't lose any money and the people who bought the launchers would be happy.
