The new windows with the additional armor plating that just has a small rectangle cut in the middle are (I think) not working as intended, because in many buildings you CANNOT shoot out of them. If you stand and fire, you can fire out, but you cannot see out. So you just fire blind out of the window. If you crouch and shoot, you can see what you want to shoot...but all your shots hit the new lower armor rim on the window... This is super frustrating.
As Cyz said, stand back. Besides, standing back is safer. If a grenade pops in, you've got time to dodge. If a sniper fires, he'll hit your feet, not the magic bullseye between your eyes.
That works in some buildings but not others due to the layout of the base and it also limits your cone of vision out of the window severely.
