[Suggestion] New meta game for the WDS (or alert)

    I think the previous WDS felt a bit to much like any other day in planetside except that SOE tracked each empires progress. Here is the previous scoring system taken from https://players.planetside2.com/#!/wds

    It rewards us for capturing all bases and it gives you points for each hour it remains under your control so the more bases the merrier.

    Doesn't this sound exactly like any other day in Planetside 2? It doesn't really matter where or in which direction you attack as long as you capture stuff. We always capture bases and kill stuff, no change.

    So why not make the WDS something extraordinaire by encouraging people to break from the daily routines where we fight in every direction and give them a clear goal. Something which would give us the most epic battles this game has seen and those who win a feeling of victory for a moment.

    I propose that;
    • Each continent is given 1 captue point, take the Crown on Indar as an example. (just because it is center of the continent, might need a base layout redo to provide better fighting grounds for more people)
    • The capture point will provide X amount of WDS score per 30 minutes held (maybe an hour).
    • In addition a caravan of 5-10 sunderers spawn that will attempt to reach the nearest friendly techplant/biolab/amp station.
    • The caravan can be destroyed.
    • The caravan provides a bonus to the WDS score when it reaches the destination. The reward will be a function of how many caravans that reaches the destination.
    • Destroying an enemy caravan provides XP for everyone who attacked it and WDS score to the empire based on % damage inflicted, at 100% equal to half of what the empire that owned it would've gained if it made it.
    Additional mechanics and rewards which could be implemented alone or all together;
    • While holding the capture point, the empire gain double exp boost benefit while inside the SOI of the capture point territory.
    • After a capture, the base cannot be re-captured by any other empire for a minimum of 30 minutes (maybe an hour), this will change the focus of the game from the base it self to the caravan, it will also allow the empires to travel to other continents and attack there.
    • Holding 2 capture points at the same time (across 2 contintents) will increase the travel speed of the caravans by 25%.
    • Like the point above, add a second capture point like a small base nearby the crown in this case, holding this point increases travel speed by 25%.
    • "Caravan Destroyer" decal added when you achieve 100 caravan kills (assists also?)
    • "Caravan Escorter" decal added when you escort 100 caravans to safety
    • "Keeper of the Crown" decal added when you capture the Crown 50 times.
    • "Keeper of the xxxxx" decal added when you capture xxxx 50 times (on each other continent).
    • "WDS Fanatic" decal added when you've killed 2 000 enemies inside a capture points sphere of influence/terretory while under control of your empire.
    We can probably think of many more mechanics that could make this a fun event for WDS. If you like this suggestion hit the +1 button!

    I'd just worry that something like this would kill a bunch of fights in other areas.

    With the current crown? No. This base has the worst design ever made by soe, where defenders are forced to attack the attackers to defend the base. Just a pure absurd.
    Overall, I like the crown-mechanics idea, but with the current base designs it will be poor gameplay for everyone.

    Uh....the defenders always had to attack the atackers to repel them at some point. These Sunderers aren't going to explode themselves and the base the attackers are comming from isn't going to capture itself...
