( NC ) Anchor : a poor cqc weapon.

    yea, the anchor is great.
I find myself using the gd22s more nowadays, but they both serve different purposes.
  2. Bill Hicks

I like the GD 22. Maybe ill try it again.
  3. Bill Hicks

I havnt tried it out again but I heard SOE ruined the EM6 with its "balance" changes

Amen to that. Its cheap and quite effective out of the box. Grip and the thing is real nice over longer range. Or laser if you desperately need more cqc ability, but i think grip is better nontheless. Hipfire just isnt worth it with just a laser, too ineffective - i have both options but rerolled to grip because ADS is usually the best option with it, even at closer range. It just lacks a bit in the dps department. But because of the slower fire rate its easier to controll.

And Anchor is basically the same gun with more dps and damage close range (softpoint option), more bullet speed, and better hipfire. Before the GD-22 reload buff Anchor was a straight upgrade basically.
I dunno how you can think its bad... because the other options are certainly not better.

Lol, SoE didnt ruin the EM6, that is prolly just alot of bads complaining that they cant instagib everything with it.

The Em6 is a great gun. IDK how it performed before, but now I know i love it. Nothing wrong with it. I run x2/Comp/FG.

Ive got a laser for CQC, but never really use it. The EM6 pretty much rocks.

Its a good gun, short on ammo, but not bad at all.

Still feels fine to me. It's my go-to weapon. I'm not a "sit back and take pot shots" kind of guy normally, but when I am I go for the SAW. I prefer to mix things up, and my role changes as the battle goes on. The EM6 still fits decently into any role as long as you're careful and know it's limitations. The new first-shot recoil is a bit weird to get used too, but after putting ~1000 rounds through it I felt fine. Was landing tight 5-round burst groupings at 75m without a problem.

Thanks for the nice long writeup. I was leaning towards the anchor because from what I had already read, the EM6 was depicted as a slightly easier to control SAW; and thus being effective in ranges similar to what the SAW is effective in. The anchor on the other hand seems to fill a significantly different enough role that it will cover the areas where neither the EM6 or the SAW are able to excel (Close range) where still being able to compete in medium range if the situation arises.

    A few quick followup questions:
-What exactly do you consider short/medium/long range? I've just been running that medium is anything that the x1 reflex is still able to hit without too much worry about zoom, long is anything further than that and short goes from interior combat to the point where CQC takes over at shotgun range.
-Do you feel the anchor preforms well enough at the mediumish range to justify using it as the go-to lmg?

I may do if they fixed the massive red dot bug for the reflex (the Anchor Irons are pretty bad too), I would probably use it in most small or medium bases, and Biolabs. Outdoors and other facilities, I would still use a more long range specialised weapon, I think, unless I know I'll be storming the main building.
  10. Kasai

What LMGs do you use for general purpose? It seems the EM6 is pretty well rounded, what about the GD22?
  11. X3Killjaeden

Yes i use it as my default LMG now for everything i do. The range really depends on what you consider effective (also with every other gun), i've shot infantry with the GD-22 at 200m with 2x (same performance as anchor) Its possible, just not effective in my opinion.
I'd say 100-120m is a good guestimate. You can deal damage further away, it's just not what i would consider as very effective. You should propably try it in VR and judge for yourself in comparison to the SAW (based on your knowlege of the SAW in real fights)
For ranged fire i prefer 2-3 round bursts, because they are pretty tight if you controll it and increase hit propability on a moving target.
Most infantry fights revolve within the 100m-150m range anyway. If you can't engage it effectively with the Anchor they can't engage you effectively with their weapons either (snipers beeing the exception)

    for me: past 120m, long
    70-120m, medium
    20-70, short
closer 20m - brawl range (hipfire)
  12. KnightCole

Soo, in game, about how far is 100m? 50m? 20m? I dont usually engage much past about the length of the cap room in tech plants(From the upper platform to that big orbital gun). That is about my own max effective range. I fire my LMGs in 10-15 round bursts, or until I notice my rounds just plain not hitting anything.
  13. X3Killjaeden

Just go into VR and set a waypoint on top of one of the enemies in the open and walk away and compare to what you are used ingame. In the shooting range you have enemies on each line (10m apart up to 50m)
From balkony to the gun i would guess its about 80m-100m but i could be wrong - you get easily deceived with the range thing. Like in real life. Thats why its so hard to give somebody an idea what range a gun is usable for. It all comes down to personal preference
  14. BadLlama

Do you have advanced laser on the Anchor? The Anchor is actually really very good. The higher damage it does per shot compared with the other factions cqc LMG's make it so the TTK is roughly equivalent AND it is still quite decent at range.
  15. Bill Hicks

The problem is that when you put a grip on the anchor it doesnt seems to help it for mid range at all.
  16. X3Killjaeden

it sure helps... its just not worth it imo, because the hipfire option is what makes this gun stand out. If you prefer better mid range its propably better to use EM6 or GD-22. Biggest problem with anchor for midrange is lack of 2x sight and the overly large 1x and iron sight

    seem

lol, how fitting - my largest streak ever with a handweapon, fresh from today's session. Too bad it doesnt count vehicle kills too, 2 mags 2 lightnings and 1 TR max
Nice 3 way fight at Zurvan while the rest of the continent was on Amerish alert.

I usually run the NV sight on my anchor just for those reasons. It's clearer than a reflex is currently, and roughly same zoom.

What's the general consensus on the GD-22? I've been toying around with it and it feels pretty good. It's not quite as good as the Anchor for CQC (no adv laser, lower RoF) but I keep finding that the lower first shot multiplier helps a lot with the medium range and the x2 reflex is amazingly useful as well. I remember reading that it has the same recoil as the anchor (after 1st shot), so it seems like it could be a pretty well rounded choice. Compared to the EM6 I definitely like the lack of sideways recoil.
