Latest update constantly gives corruption bug error, "try again in 20-30 mins".

Latest hotfix DL seems to always corrupt, unable to play PS2 at all. Crashed first time, tried two more times immediately afterwards, then left it the recommended 20-30 minutes, corrupted again. Left it 3 more hours, tried again, same error message. Tried it the next day, same error message.

Essentially unable to update PS2 at all and thus unable to play it.

There are a few different issues which may be causing this problem for you, so you may need to try a few things to get into the game:

    1. Please ensure that you have added an exception within your Firewall or Anti-Virus software for planetside2.exe, launchpad.exe, awesomiumprocess.exe, and ApplicationUpdaterService.exe.

The location of these files can vary, but by default they should look like this:

    Win7/Vista/Win8

    C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Sony Online Entertainment\ApplicationUpdater\ApplicationUpdaterService.exe
    C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\LaunchPad.exe
    C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\PlanetSide2.exe
    C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\LaunchPad.libs\AwesomiumProcess.exe

    Windows XP

    C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\ Sony Online Entertainment\ApplicationUpdater\ApplicationUpdaterService.exe
    C:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\LaunchPad.exe
    C:\Program Files\\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\PlanetSide2.exe
    C:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\PlanetSide 2\LaunchPad.libs\AwesomiumProcess.exe

The AppData and Application Data folders are hidden in Windows by default so you may need to enable "View Hidden Files/Folders" before you are able to find these files.

    2. You may need to clear the cache settings for the launch pad by going to the launchpad.libs folder in your PlanetSide 2 directory and delete the launchpad.cache folder then try accessing the game once again.

    3. The launcher may have been corrupted and will need to be repaired before it will work correctly. You can repair the launcher with the launcher set up file from the following link:

    https://launch.soe.com/installer/PS2_setup.exe

Let me know if that helps.

In the meantime i went and varified my game cache to check its integrity (I remember using this to address Valve game issues in the past) and Steam flagged 513 missing or corrupt files. Hopefully Steam will address the problem directly by overwriting all the problematic files automatically. Although the supposed 7.4 GB of new data is going to take approx 2 hours to resolve.

It's definately not a firewall issue, i've been through several updates and hotfixes without issues. The cache solution sounds like it would have been a good idea, but it looks like Steam is already handling it for me for now from the varification menu. I'll try that solution next if this one doesn't work.

Steam varification didn't directly resolve the issue. When i went back to the launch pad there was an outstanding 61,777KB that needed downloading and it failed again (despite steam varifying game cache integrity). I went and deleted my launchpad cache then tried again and there was still an outstanding 60,775KB of data to download which also failed.

I'll try and repair the launcher using the link provided.

OK, that exe wanted to reinstall PS2, or at least the installer, which i let it do. It then wanted to install 7.465MB of data which sounds an awful lot like the 7.4GB Steam wanted to reinstall. I let it and it failed. The launchpad still fails to install what ever missing data is missing and i still cannot play PS2.

I only just noticed the sticky to avoid using steams validate tool and to use the launchpad tool instead. After using the steam validate it said it needed to update 1 file and the PS2 launchpad said the same thing afterwards as well, but doesn't seem to actually be updating or installing anything.

    "Replacing PlanetSide2.exe
    *Warning: Retrying PlanetSide2.exe
    *Warning: Retrying PlanetSide2.exe
*Error: The downloaded file is incomplete or was corrupted. An update may be in progress. Please try again in 20-30 minutes.
    Checking all game files...
    Found 1 file(s) to update."

The progress bar doesn't seem to have started or is stuck on 99 or 100% and i can't see it making any progress.

Really not sure what to do at this point as nothing seems to be working short of a full re-install which is going to be a real pain in the **** and no garauntee. But i guess if there's no other options there are no other options.

Try just cut the PlanetSide2.exe to other folder/desktop, and let it redownload the file again.
    Check your anti-virus/firewall too.;)

I got it to fix after the second launcher varification. Not sure what finally allowed the game to work. Initial varification timed out, closed the box, varified it again, missing files, closed launcher because play/install button was greyed out, opened it and could randomly click "play" instead of "install".

    lol.

So, er, the latest client hotfix corrupted the game files again and it's giving me the "try again in 20-30 minutes" alert. Is this going to be an issue with every update from now on? First 3 updates i encountered worked fine, including the major one and follow up hotfix so i don't know what's changed since then.

Update was installed and obviously failed. I've varified through the launcher and 1 file was found to need updating (presumably the exe, again), but the process timed out, again. re-opened launcher, 36,717 missing KB, redownloaded. Seem to be able to play again.

So i've fixed this, but it is a time consuming and frustrating issue that keeps occuring.

Can you create a ticket, and tell them the location where you are?
Because it seen like the CDN server on your location is having some broken cache?

If it is it's a recurring problem. This new update timed out at about 45%. Closed the launchpad and attempted to restart the download and it said it was corrupt or incomplete and to try again in 20-30 minutes.

Validating the cache says 242 files missing but fails to sync them this time as if it's run into the same problem the original install had.

One problem after another this game is. As if that wasn't problematic enough all the steam shortcuts stopped working so i have to run the launchpad manually from the executable in my steam folder. I created my own shortcut to the launchpad on my desktop now so it's not as inconvinient, but it is annoying i can't access the game through steam.
