    Big fun!
Had the most fun for ages in Planetside 2 yesterday evening.

    How was that so?
We (TR) were on top of a mountain shooting at (NS) on the next mountain top.
All the time being bombarded by Reavers etc.
NS were trying to take our mountain.
Think we were trying to take theirs.
It was chaos. It was hugely enjoyable for me,maybe the others.

    Got thinking.
What was that game we used to play so long ago when kids, ah yes, 'KING OF THE HILL'.

    The point.
This gameplay just seemed to developed naturally due to the terrain.
Why not elaborate on the idea somehow?

Oh, you want me to make a suggestion.
On winning the hill ice creams for everyone.....Ok, maybe some other more PS2 orientated reward.
There's alot of possible rewards I can think of but won't right now.

    Others.
Obviously this all depends on how many others find the idea attractive.

    Finale.
Don't have alot of hope for this but thought I might attempt it nonetheless..

King of the hill, Why not? This game isn't Planetside 2 anymore. King of the hill fits right in with DBG's new mobile phone Devs current trend of stale 90's video game content. Other suggestions I might add are; Tic Tac Toe, Tag, Hide and Seek, go fish and uno! :)

All for the Fun! Go fish!

    Don't you think a PS2 themed Arena-type game would be a good idea ? ;)

    You guys.:D

Anyone would think your telling me it's a bad idea..

Nah it's not a bad idea at all - it's just that - PS2 has never truly achieved global interest, it's a bit of an outlier with a small but dedicated following who accept and live with all of the shortcomings because it provides an experience like no other.

When they try to re-hash the same old game engine into an en-voque playstyle totally dominated by a few games, it's not going to go well. Why would the dedicated few follow when others do it so much better ? (Ahem Arena)

In PS2 you have to work hard for your fun and rewards. DBG/RPG are certainly trying - but at the end of the day, it's the dedicated followers of (not fashion) who will determine the viability of PS2. It's been many years so far so at least they are doing something right.

We already have "Hide and Go Seek" thanks to Stalker Infiltrators. In case you forgot one of SOE's brilliant additions to the game.

King of The Hill and Search And Destroy :)) S&D is almost implemented - we have cortium bombs :)

The game is one big king-of-the-hill gameplay where you have to grab an area and hold it until the base captures. If you added a second hill near Skydock Mesa and made that it's own base you could already have what you want.

Adding new game modes is a good idea though. PS2 can have several variants of CTF, a VIP-like capture mechanic and attrition gameplay.

    Example:

    • CTF
      • Pick up the point(s), bring it to a nearby deployed Sunderer to make the timer start. When the player or Sunderer is killed the point drops where it can be picked up or destroyed to make it return.
      • Pick up the point(s), bring it to a specific spot inside the base to make the timer start.
      • Pick up the point(s), bring it to the nearest lattice-linked base on foot (perhaps their running speed can be increased but using vehicles would be too easy). No timer, several point captures means you get the base. Flags are brought to the point of the lattice-linked base, where they can also be picked up and returned by the defenders. Introduces a VIP element as players have to defend the player as he carries the flag back.
    • VIP
      • Both attackers and defenders can pick up the point and carry it around. Once picked up the timer starts to capture the base (or reverse it's capture). The point isn't allowed to move too far out of the base and will respawn within 3 seconds of entering a painfield. The point can be destroyed with firepower when it's hard for one side to actually capture it, making the point respawn on it's pedestal.
      • Points become impossible to capture unless you carry a special item in your inventory that you need to buy at the infantry terminal for a few resources (say 50). Carrying this item reveals you on the map.
    • Attrition
      • Best used as a tool to make it more fun for underpops. When a kill is made time is either added or subtracted from the capture timer. The more underpopped you are the more time you get per kill. Vehicle and aircraft kills count for more.
The best way to add these is to randomly assign each capture mechanic to a base upon continent unlock. That way bases vary in how they are approached depending on how they are captured at that moment.
