Is coming dead of all VEHICLES from the Battlefield ?

    Infantry only combats at outposts and bases? I see nothing wrong with it. Why? Because those places are meant for infantry fight, not tanks spamming.

    Aircraft will be able to pass through the shields .. The shields will stop projectiles not vehicles .. If someones gameplay was sitting on a hill shelling spawnrooms and cap points from 200m's away, then yes that will be ruined .. But I will not shed a tear .

    Because, contrary to most peoples belief, the game is about Infantry. Combined arms has never been equal parts Men, Aircraft, and ground vehicles. Right now playing infantry is extremely limited in most base situations against a tank zerg. Anything that makes those tank pilots exit their tanks to finish the job will increase unit diversity and make defense feel less irrelevant.

    You can still spawn camp people on foot so your experience won't change! But at least the defenders MIGHT consider exiting the spawn room when it's not being spammed from all sides by explosives from a tank cannon.

    So then I suppose that MBTs and lightnings are only "meant" to be armored taxis for travel between the infantry fighting zones since they are not "meant" to be part of capturing bases.

    It's true. Most fights end because the spawn room is surrounded by a vehicle zerg and is being shelled by armor and aircraft. Infantry vs infantry battles tend to last a fair bit longer, and you don't see people bailing from those in droves those, do you? Cert farm? That's a byproduct of a good fight.

    On the flip side, maybe now tanks and aircraft can have longer lifespans against infantry borne countermeasures, since they'll have the open fields between linked locations to fight over.




    If you're using them as armored taxis, your enemy is at fault, not the developers... well sort of the developers. The enemy should be pulling tanks and aircraft and mounting a counter attack and engaging your armor advance in the field. It could be said however that the problem mostly stems from small outposts: they only spawn sunderers and flashes. They stand no chance against a force reinforcing from a tank/aircraft capable spawn point.

    Small outposts should probably get lightning and harasser spawning capabilities to encourage in-field vehicular warfare. SOE can't count on players to fall back as far as necessary to pull aircraft/armor to reinforce a small outpost, that's far too inconvenient. Well, maybe armor. Aircraft can reach any location on the continent within 2 minutes of spawning at their warp gate and don't have to deal with navigating terrain.

    Right now vehicle-infantry roles are reversed, vehicles excel in bases and infantry excels in open fields as their lock-ons, phoenixes, AV mana turrets, Ravens, Lancers, vortex, fractures etc have more range than tanks and are almost unavoidable.

    I hope they change this with a massive range nerf or massive damage falloff and more tank projectile speed with the new dome shield update so vehicles will dominate the open and infantry will again dominate the bases.

    Ok i ll agree with you all WHEN you will be able spawn only at big BASES as like WarpGate,BIOhouses...

    This is a good thing. Let the ground pounders duke it out in the bases. With no tanks spawn camping, we can undo all the nerfs to vehicles over the last 6 months, because, the infantry get their little play zone, and the vehicles get ours.

    I'm going to nickname this the "overreaction thread". They made it plainly clear that dome shields will only be over select bases or outposts that they wanted to designate as infantry fighting zones. Not all bases and outposts, nor does it look like the majority of them at this point. Relax a bit, you'll still be able to farm infantry with your tanks and aircraft on Esamir.

    The problem with this is similar to how infantry handle spawn rooms: they just sit inside the gates and wait for something to pass through, then slam it with cannon fire.

    The fact is, when dealing with armor spawning from within a base, the locations they'll be leaving a base are predictable, so it's often suicide to try. Generally, there is no such thing as "defensive" armor, it's a counter attack force in the field between locations or it will get stomped coming fresh off the vehicle pad. Armor and aircraft are by and large an offensive tool and must be utilized as such for the greatest chance at success. Coming TO the base, well, there are considerably more approach options, and typically once those gens fall, tanks pile into the court yard and obliterate everything. Base assaults end once tanks get involved.

    Naw, encouraging in field combat with tanks is the best way. The lattice helps determine which general direction armor should go and where enemy armor might be coming from in general. Part of the problem is still allowing every facility to spawn some form of combat vehicle however. Outposts will just turn into cans that are to be surrounded by armor and then popped from inside with infantry otherwise.

    It will be suicide for any aircraft to go through shields, instantly decimated.

    Big battles are only at main facilities outpost ! So where tank should be ? When INF players are only spawning from Outpost to outpost ? They are not using transports easier way is to suicide/redeploy and spawn in building...

    That is why i am saying REMOVE all spawns and only spaws will be on MAIN FACILITIES like BIODOMES,WARPGATEs !

    200m ? It will be suicide mission for aitcraft ! Just put 2-3 Maxes from TR ! and they will be only sit and w8 for aircrafts

    Would depend if people pull more or less AA with the shields in place .. A lot of ESF pilots low altitude pod at the current bases and manage to get away .. The shields could make the getting away part even easier .. But TBH until we see them in action all the talk atm is a lot of theory and very little fact either way.

    You misunderstood ..The ones who in theory could lose out are those who sit at The Crown and shell TI Alloys and high Altitude Lib pilots .. Those pilots who make low altitude pod runs at the current bases will still be able to do the same.

    Keep in mind the shields also block the defenders AA from going past it.

    If the base is quiet will be okay, but if any amount of small force, good bye to them.
