Im sure theres reasons... but id really like to have blood in this game. I know its sounds taxing, but even if it only rendered on ppl within X meters, or only your targets. what about you?
Soylent Green doesn't bleed either. Though it leaves a terrific green stain on yer' carpet. Dirty Carpets are a horrendous problem in PS2! I DEMAND! this problem be NErfeD! / bUFFed! NOW! OR! I'LL! QUITED!
Pretty obvious devs want 0 gore effects. Theyr not going to add it this late. Hm makes me think of old soldier of fortune which indroduced modular destruction of character models. Some speculated this would be the new standard but the opposite happened. Video games been reducing on gore effects since early 2000s. Half-Life 2 comes to mind. We get destructive environments and advanced physics but when a body is hit by a rocket it just flies away like kicked by a horse. What used to be the norm is today considered exceptionally violent.
I think they steered clear of gore to keep a lower ESRB rating. Mature F2P games are almost non-existant.
Whether or not it is a desired feature, it's not going to happen. Specifically, if there were blood or gore effects, the game would have to be Rated M. Not to mention the unholy performance impact it would come with.
I don't think so. Look at Planetside (The first one, that subscription based MMOFPS) There was no blood. Only nanites. Somehow gore or bloodeffects wouldn't fit into the Planetside Universe. If it would be your generic modern shooter, then maybe, it could fit in, but for that it is too colorfull with too few lensflare.
