Getting 40fps even with 4.5Ghz(Low Performance)

    Recently I overclocked my i5-4670k to 4.5Ghz to have better PS2 experience.
    But It doesn't look good.
    Even though with Razer Game Booster, all core unparked, regular PC maintenance, I see those frames when I'm at 48 vs 48 fights or higher.(It is always CPU bottleneck. My GPU is GTX760 with 2GB)

    Not only with those, I tweaked Useroption.ini as well to acquire stable and high FPS and try to turn off every other program or process while playing PS2.

    Here's the thing.
    Graphics : High
    Texture : Ultra
    Shadow : Low or Off(for streaming)
    Flora : Off
    Particle : Off
    Model : High
    Lighting : Low(I don't remember correctly. See the below)
    Terrain : Medium
    FOV : 74
    Resoultion : 1920*1080
    Render Distance : 500
    Render Quality : 100%
    Particle Distance Scale : 0.65000
    Smoothing : Off

    and raw Useroption.ini setting.

    [Rendering]
    GraphicsQuality=3
    TextureQuality=0
    ShadowQuality=1
    RenderDistance=500.000000
    Gamma=0.000000
    MaximumFPS=127
    UseLod0a=1
    ShadowLOD=0
    FloraLOD=0
    FloralLOD=0
    ModelLOD=0
    OverallQuality=-1
    LightingQuality=1
    FogShadowsEnable=0
    EffectsQuality=3
    TerrainQuality=1
    FloraQuality=4
    ModelQuality=3
    ParticleLOD=0
    MotionBlur=0
    VerticalFOV=74
    Smoothing=0
    UseAspectFOV=1
    AO=0
    VSync=0
    BloomEnabled=1
    ParticleDistanceScale=0.650000

    I see no reason why I see that low FPS so far.
    Any thoughts?
    Your help is much appreciated.

    If it is a CPU bottleneck your in game graphic settigns won't matter much.
    How hot is your cpu?
    Perhaps it is overheating and throttling.
    Run prime 95 and core temp or something to see how hot it gets under load.
  3. Smagjus

    That is not far from the expected performance. 50 FPS is what I would expect with your CPU at 4.5 GHz in the those 48+ fights.

    I got a i7-4930k @4.2GHz and also drop down to 40FPS, though the fights causing this are around 96+x2.
  4. Shuay

    You should be able to run it on almost max settings without all that stuff. My setup is similar to yours without any software mods and it runs very well with only shadows on low and everything maxed 1920x1200. Don't unpark your CPU. I've tried it before. Try reinstalling your game. Don't mess with the ini either. I've tried all that long time ago. Don't use razer game booster either. Uninstall it. Check your ram and see if they are all in good working order. Is your game installed on an SSD? This is Deven from Zurvan btw hi~
  5. NCstandsforNukaCola

    Maximum temperature is 67 Celsius degree by RealTemp
    I didn't try prim95 but linX 0.6.4 AVX and its maximum temp was 90.
    I don't think I'm having an issue with throttling.
  6. NCstandsforNukaCola

    But other guys told me they get better fps though their rig is inferior to mine.
    and I built my rig with this forum's advice.
    My goal was to get 60fps anytime and forum helped me.

    Check out for my posts in General Technical Support.
    I've posted 2 about building a PC.

    * The worst thing is, fps drops down to even 30.
    That's why I am bothering this.
  7. NCstandsforNukaCola

    No, I don't have SSD.
    And razer, unpark, etc.. I should try those
    and I'm little bit surprised ;)
  8. Hank

    do you use AA settings in your control panel? and check your .ini file to see what your rendering quality is at, i set mine to
    1.000000, if i set it to 1.410000 my frames are halved. for me antialasing just kills my performance.
  9. NCstandsforNukaCola

    As I mentioned in OP, my RQ is 100%.
  10. Undyingghost89

    It just cant be. I am with 2500k 4.8ghz oc'd just for PS2. Even the biggest fights i never drop below 60fps, (smoothing and vsync on). I even use higher settings. Maybe try that, maxed out and see if helps. Should see more gpu usage.

    Sandy at 4.8ghz should around same as haswell with 4.4ghz so idk whats wrong.
  11. Hank

    yeah, i saw that..wasn't sure if that was your slider setting in game.
    These are my .ini file settings i get better performance with these than with turning stuff down.

    it doesnt matter how fast your cpu is if your graphics card is doing nothing. turn the graphics up. way up. look up planetside 2 ultra 2014 and use that .ini.
  13. Luminus

    How can you tolerate 500 render distance.
  14. NCstandsforNukaCola

    As a dedicated infantry, 500 is fine.
    I adjust it when I drive something.
  15. NCstandsforNukaCola

    Already have done that.
    Turning every option that GPU is concerned with to High or Ultra.
    But it doesn't seem to work.

    But I guess I should give it a try again.
  16. Smagjus

    That is simply wrong. The "ultra" settings are a myth, they simply don't do anything which was confirmed by SOE.

    The theory regarding an increment of graphics settings offloading computing from the CPU to the GPU is also not more than a theory. It originally was a statement by one of SOE's coders who had nothing to do with graphics or performance. There was never any evidence that it actually worked that way.

    With my setup I'm getting lately cpu bottleneck as low as 26-30fps compared to the usual gpu bottleneck that sometimes happens at same framerate. How in the hell are other people running this game averaging 60fps its for me a dream. Except my cpu is only 3.9ghz turbo clocked no manual tickering.
  18. radrussian2

    its not something that works on every computer. the more i try to turn my graphics down the worse my performance gets. but one thing that i always do is to turn flip queue size on through radeon pro. nvidia has a similar feature but its called something different. you should look into that.
  19. Rikkit

    hmm, don't know, my fps are around 120fps at 24vs24 fights,a nd drop to something around 70 in 96+ fights. here are my specs:
    CPU: i5-3570 (3.4GHz)
    RAM 16GB
    GPU: GTX 760 (4GB RAM)

    Code:
    [Rendering]
    GraphicsQuality=5
    TextureQuality=3
    ShadowQuality=0
    RenderDistance=900.000000
    Gamma=0.000500
    MaximumFPS=120
    UseLod0a=0
    VSync=0
    OverallQuality=-1
    LightingQuality=3
    FogShadowsEnable=0
    EffectsQuality=1
    EffectsDistanceScale=0.300000
    TerrainQuality=0
    FloraQuality=4
    ModelQuality=1
    ParticleLOD=0
    ParticleDistanceScale=0.600000
    MotionBlur=0
    AO=0
    VerticalFOV=60
    GpuPhysics=1
    Smoothing=0
    UseAspectFOV=0
    BloomEnabled=0
    FloralDistanceScale=0.050000
    TerrainLOD=0
    FloralLOD=0
    EffectsLOD=0
    PS: hmm overclocking, don't know, yes in the past (Pentium generation) it was usefull, but modern chips are slow couse of memmory, not couse of slow prozessing, so unless you can "fix" the "slow" Memory / Cache Units, you won't get that much performance from it. When you're unlucky, you can also slow down your cpu, when you force it to work with unstable signals.(when a bit flips from 0 to 1 or from 1 to 0, it takes some time, till the signal is stable)

    @
    @OP, i recently upgraded my system to similar hardware, i have a i5-4690k, a r9 280x (3gb), and i'm easily running the game on ultra, exept for shadows even in 96+ fights at constant 60 fps, and since the 4690k isnt that much better than the 4670k and with my GPU simply being a little ahead of your's you should be able to get easly 50+ fps eeven in 48+ fights und medium-high settings.
    EASILY! maybe u need more RAM? what mainboard do u have? because im whondering, an outfitmember of mine has the same hardware and gets the same fps as i get! ( sry for my bad english^^ )
    PS: maybe your power supply is too low? could also be that!
    EDIT: i even run at 6000 render distance, jsut for the beauty!
