[Suggestion] Galaxy-only long-range radar

    Hi all,

    One of the members of my outfit (Maphony, I think) dropped this in Teamspeak today: What if we gave Galaxies the option, in Utility or Defense slot, to equip Scout or Engagement radar, but increased its effective area over that of the ESFs?

    It'd create a sort of AWACS role for the Galaxy, which is cool because, they could light up large areas of the battlefield - but present a big, juicy target to enemy air, especially if the radar dish (like on ESFs) is clearly visible. Keeping in mind, depending on the slot, the Galaxy is giving up nanites, armor, etc. to equip the radar.

    Optional alternative: Air only is revealed.

    I think one of the main problems with this idea is that Galaxies are so dang durable.

    IRL AWACS would be balanced out by generally being pretty fragile and requiring an escort or staying out of direct combat. In terms of game mechanics this means there is counterplay; the enemy side can knock out your AWACS if they want to.

    But an AWACS Galaxy would be neigh invulnerable... able to take more tank shells than an MBT. It would be pretty hard to destroy it and deny the enemy of intelligence.

    I think that's why so far Prox Radar has just been installed on squishy vehicles, like the ESFs and Flash.

    Bare in mind, I LOVE this idea alot and would like to see it implemented, maybe if it came with full intelligence capability but also made the galaxy have less health because they have to strip some armor to fit the computer inside?

    to counter balance the health loss have it Reveal EVERYTHING. Mines, infantry, tanks, literally everything is auto spotted and broadcast to friendlies in range.

    But it also strips the galaxy of alot of its health, making it ill suited for combat.
