Extremely high ping while playing on EU servers

Lately (last week) my ping has been around 200 - 400 and occasionally jumps to 2000+. Activating heavy shields + infil shields and interacting with terminals is often slightly delayed, same with getting in and out of vehicles. Ping also seems to jump high during intense combat.

The ping only gets high when server population is high, so around late afternoon - evening. After midnight my ping is perfect around 50-60 ms. Other games work fine and have no issue with latency.

I have also been getting terrible ping. It's frustrating. Up until yesterday for over a week I was getting between 160-200 ping. Today It spiked frequently 600 and never dropped below 300.

I have the same issue a last 3-4 days. I've created a ticket in the support but they still not answer...

Same issue affecting me as of this evening. Ping usually at 80. Now it jumps between 200-1200. At start of session it shows 2000.

    Here's some interesting traceroutes:

Whats with the sudden spike from this othe location?
#10 seems somewhat ok...same route at last two nodes, yet on the second location the last node spikes insanely. Route should be the same?

Can confirm that home is 60-100ms as usual, pub cafe still 250-1000ms.
    Sigh...

I just got this today on Ceres. Was playing fine then all of a sudden it started increasing and kept increasing. At one point I was over 60000 ping but it soon died down to go between 200 - 300, occationally spiking up to 700 - 800.

I can confirm the same as JaL. This only affects my home connection. If I do traceroute from different connection in same town, same isp (adsl instead of fiber) I get pretty much the same traceroute except at home I get spike on same hop as JaL.

If I do these traces in linux I get:

    Home connection:
    9 po9-1405.bg1.am1.eu.equinix.net (89.187.106.154) 49.576 ms 49.656 ms 49.778 ms
    10 po7.bg1.am3.eu.equinix.net (94.103.16.86) 49.984 ms 50.103 ms 50.225 ms
    11 5.175.82.90 (5.175.82.90) 64.018 ms 64.152 ms 65.478 ms
    12 5.175.82.90 (5.175.82.90) 164.973 ms !X * *

Diffrent connection, same isp, same town:
    10 po9-1405.bg1.am1.eu.equinix.net (89.187.106.154) 69.451 ms 68.951 ms 68.928 ms
    11 po7.bg1.am3.eu.equinix.net (94.103.16.86) 70.481 ms 70.550 ms 69.503 ms
    12 5.175.82.90 (5.175.82.90) 74.873 ms 73.880 ms 75.079 ms
    13 5.175.82.90 (5.175.82.90) 74.281 ms !X * *

Not sure why it has same ip twice in row.
  9. Artifex78

This piece of hardware "5.175.82.90" is probably faulty. It affects anyone coming through equinix. "5.175.82.90" belongs to the SOE network. -> Ticket.

I am on Cobalt too from Sweden. I usually lie on 67ms. Today my ping has ranged between 160-250ms in game. When I ping the EU servers I get around 50ms. How does that go together?

Playing on connery, normal ping averages around 100, getting jumps above 10k+ and a base of 300 starting last night :/

Server response time counts in ping value. Whenever server is overloaded the ping value goes sky high.
  13. JaL

Pings have normalized for me now.
  14. sicsoo

are there problems with the forum and the server today? cannot even launch the game, plus the game freezes while i can still hear ppl talking in voicechat. then i cannot enter because the launcher doesn't start.
  15. Bluevo

seems like the lag problem is spreading in EU ... first WOT and now PS2
i'm on Ceres .... ping 100-150 ---- 900 today .... i'm playing World of tanks too and from last month we have BIG lag problems on Euro servers with high spikes and and a week ago it starts in PS2 too
  16. faykid

same problem, but it started after tonight's patch. get 160-200 ms with up to 13,000 ms spikes (sic!)
used to be 60-80 all the time, until yesterday
  17. McToast

    Moin

I have a ping of 200-2000 since the recent update. Stopped playing for today, it just makes no sense.
  18. nallar

Can confirm increased ping, seems to be a networking problem - not server latency. Normally 30ms via `ping 69.174.194.168`, now seeing 90ms.

Last few hops of the tracert:

    Code:
     11 26 ms 23 ms 23 ms po4-3020.bg1.ld2.eu.equinix.net [80.69.1.57]
    12 33 ms 29 ms 29 ms po9-1405.bg1.am1.eu.equinix.net [89.187.106.154]
    13 31 ms 30 ms 30 ms po7.bg1.am3.eu.equinix.net [94.103.16.86]
    14 38 ms 30 ms 31 ms 5.175.82.90
    15 97 ms 96 ms 97 ms amspsn-liv-gw04.planetside2.com [69.174.194.168]

So it does seem to be an SOE issue, not someone else's fault along the route. Would expect the last hop to have only a slight increase in ping, not 70ms.
