Drop =/= drop!? ------ V10 =/= V10!?

Al right Forum, riddle me this:

Take two identical rifle set-ups (V10, 8x scope, suppressed, 300m, perfectly level ground)
    • I have 3.5 dots drop to the head
    • The other shooter has 4.9 dots drop to the head.
Like I said, the set-ups are identical. My buddy fistshove and I just sat down and spent an hour on this, making sure we were reading the scopes the same way.. we even matched screen resolutions just because we could.

There is no chance we made a mistake counting the dots or assembling the guns.

As it stands the only reason that makes sense is that his V10 is less powerful then mine.
Yes I know that using a silencer at 300m does not make a lot of sense. But neither does the difference in drop here.. and if there really are different versions of the same gun around:

    WTH SOE?

    Best regards

um post a video..my best regards

You know a video of what you're talking about would've been really useful
  4. FistShove

video is on the way, starting now.

EDIT: ran into some technical and NC difficulties. recording delayed.

Are both of you running at the same in-game video resolution?

    Might be a difference there.
  6. yama

    Yes, we checked :)
  7. yama

    We just made the recording.
I can tell you this much already:
    • Identical setup
    • 300m
    • 3 dots: I hit him, he misses (his bullet hits the ground in front of me)
    • 4 dots: He hits me, I miss (my bullet flies over his head)
We now have to compress it and get the video of fistshoves system.. slow internet.

You might be hitting a different spot, you have to hit the top of the head or the base of the neck for a headshot, but doesn't look like it can explain a 1 dot difference.

    The anticipation is killing us.

Video is private. We can't watch it.

Are you using the same FoV? Not sure if a scope would override FoV or not, though.
  13. yama

    sorry, taken care off.
  14. yama

THAT is worth investigating. Thank you.

LOL, reminds me of a guy who used the mortar A TON in tribes ascend. He found a stealth nerf that no one else felt (because he'd fired tens of thousands of rounds and knows exactly how the thing travels) but in the end it was just because he changed his FoV.
  16. Raines

For the slow one in the back of the class (myself) what is FoV?
  17. Wobberjockey

field of view, measured in degrees
  18. Raines

Thought it was that... but just wanted to check. Where would one go to fix that? I don't exactly see an option to adjust Field of View.

You should use a 12x scope to eliminate a variable. You guys are having a hard time making accurate shots with a 8x scope at these ranges.

If you still get contradicting results, remove the suppressor to eliminate another variable. It may only deteriorate bullet drop sometimes due to a bug.

BTW I didn't see any headshots in this video so I'm not sure how you make the conclusion in the OP.
  20. yama

Its present when not using a suppressor as well, although less pronounced.
The video is just here to show that we don't have the same drop.

I hit him at 3 dots ---> he misses at three dots (low).
He hits me at 4 dots ----> I miss on for dots (high)

We didn't really want to spend extra certs to test it but we'll have a look.
Checking out the FOV theory first.
