I'm planning on getting a new in-expensive Graphics card, and I was searching around and I found a Raedeon HD 6970 for around like 90 bucks. It looks alright, better than my intergraded graphics (lol) I was searching around looking at the performance of this card and I didn't really get too much. And I was just wondering if anybody would know. I'm hoping with this and get in-game smooth FPS with big to mid fights with Medium to High settings.
Well it performs 20-30 FPS worse than a 7970, a 7970 is a R9 280X (basically), so the 6970 achieves ~20-40 FPS less than a 280X, so I guess Ingame Ultra ~30 FPS, when the CPU is strong enough (Intel Quad @ 3.0 GHz, AMD Quad 4.4 GHz I suppose) So Medium-High should work just fine) But thats just me making wild guesses . Im not certain if this is a good deal for a card that "old". It sure is a good price, but I bet you can get even cheaper. If you search long enough and sort out bllsht.
The HD 6970 is absolutely okay for Planetside 2 if you want to play at medium (probably higher) graphics. I played on an HD 5770 for a while when my main card was broken and it was running well on low.
