I have planetside installed through steam. I followed the instructions here: http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/my-launchpad-is-no-longer-supported.106773/ And got the following: So, I went to steam and used the verify integrity of game cache option and now steam is re-downloading the entire game. Is there not a way to update the LauchPad of a steam install without re-installing the entire game?
go into the steam install folder (common\planetside 2) and run launchpad.exe directly? should use only the file verify on the launcher btw, the steam one redownloads a ton of stuff which wont need redownloading
The problem was that the launcher itself needed to be replaced/updated, it can't do that just by running its validate files option. Furthermore, the repair option on the planetside 2 installer that they direct you to can't repair the game when it's in your steam folder, for whatever reason. I ended up just validating through steam and the game runs fine now, but it meant a ~7GB download.
Not true for everyone, mine validates fine, just did it, its in my steam folder but I dont run under steam unless its 1 time I want to use the steam wallet. I start the launcher direct as launchpad.exe and it updates itself as normal. Must have been something wrong with your particular setup, glad youre sorted now tho.
