Planetside 2 monopolizes my audio output somehow, making me unable to listen to anything else outside of the game, if i try to test my speaker in the window of the sound peripherics i'll get an error (In french, but translated it would be "Cannot read the tonality of the test"). If i try to watch a youtube video, the video would "crash" etc... Additionally i'd like to note that it's not that i'm not hearing anything, it litteraly cannot make a sound, spotify would not start the song saying that there's an error with my sound card for example. (And of course it wasn't the case before, and it's only when PS2 is running).
Also I'm using the soundcard integrated in my motherboard (Asus ROG Maximus 6 ? Maybe) which is obviously a Realtek.
Check UserOptions.ini in your PS2 folder and set ExclusiveMode=0 under [Sound]. If it's not that it might be an audio driver problem.
okay 1st off important to find out WHICH motherboard you have because they DO NOT USE Realtek onboard sound and will require the correct and newest drivers from the manufacturer: http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_FORMULA/specifications/ http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_GENE/specifications/ http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_IMPACT/specifications/ http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_HERO/specifications/ Just installing the correct newest driver and setting up the parameters in the manufacturer specific sound control software that comes with this driver will likely fix the problem and if not then perhaps we could go thru the settings in windows and disable give exclusive control to applications. if you need more help locating these settings or drivers let me know (as i imagine we will never see another SoE response to problems outside of Reddit. SoE forums is now a tumbleweed ghost-town and all the SoE ghosts have already gone to purgatory)
