It's not mystery that this game tends to like intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs, however that does not mean it dislikes other parts. Let's get that out of the way to begin with. I currently run an AMD GPU and intel CPU and get 30fps in big battles. There is no reason why you can't mix it up a bit.

I am not a fanboy, and there may be fanboys posting on this thread. Brands are not always superior to one and other, and I want you guys to find the right parts for you.

Go for the build that suits your budget, but keep in mind you want to be asking the question "does this part work the best for PS2?" if PS2 is the game you typically put a lot of hours into. Ask questions about parts, people will be here to help. I want to help turn this forum community into a place that helps you with all PS2 needs including building a pc. I hope this thread is the beginning of something good. There are plenty of resources out there and benchmarks to find the most powerful part for the price. Use Google search once you find a part that fits your budget. Also, I recommend these resources.

    Links you'll need

For build videos and info- www.teksyndicate.com or the channel on youtube http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL441D9BF9F40D0E5E

To find the cheapest parts - www.pcpartpicker.com

Here are some build videos that will get you started building your new PC. If your budget is $350 or $3000 you can find the right build for your needs. And yes, there are $350 builds that can play PS2 30FPS or better.

Any questions? Ask and the community. I'm sure everyone will be very willing to help.

To compare CPU models, Anandtech has a handy line graph-chart system that was built using the data they collect when they benchmark products for reviews, etc. You can check it out here,

    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2

It's not a bad site for technical info, even if they have gotten overly snobbish and commercialized in the last several years. The chart thing, she be handy.

Tom's Hardware also has a plethora of geeky charts you can read as well,

    Knowledge is power! :)
