Just trying to see how many players are being affected by lag/desync issues on Briggs at the moment. Just asking in /yell chat seems to get a few responses at least.

    Symptoms:

Identical to the ones seen in this thread: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/strange-lag-issue.167959/

    • Players flying around
    • Players sliding along the ground and eventually disappearing
    • Extremely long login times
    • Abilities are extremely unresponsive (e.g. press F to cloak, only activates/deactivates a few seconds later, if at all)
    • Bullets aren't working (e.g. sensor darts do not scan at the point of impact)
    • Weapon switching is delayed or weapons keep switching back
    • Extremely delayed damage taken
    • Stuck at 32% while logging out. The status bar keeps cycling over and over again.

    Information for troubleshooting:

I ran a pathping to lp.soe.com and saw this:

    Code:
      6 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% xe-4-0-3-10.cpcak4-r1.tranzpeer.net [101.98.3.97]
                                    0/ 100 = 0% |
      7 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% xe-4-0-2-10.cpcak4-r1.tranzpeer.net [101.98.3.96]
                                    0/ 100 = 0% |
i.e. 100% packet loss to these two. No idea why.

I'm currently residing in New Zealand. My ISP is Slingshot (standard ADSL).
Yes, I have reset the router and computer.
No, I have not experienced these problems before.
No, I will not reinstall the game (takes forever on NZ 'internet').
I am enjoying a stable 50+fps as shown from the in-game counter

What can you do to help?

If you (or anyone you know) is experiencing any of these issues, please reply with the following:
    • Symptoms
    • Physical location
    • ISP
We might be able to see some kind of common factor which could explain all this... but given other people across the globe are having trouble as well, it might be an issue with the game itself.

I do :( evey 5 min sometimes game is unplayable

I am in Melbourne. The game has really turned to sh*t recently.
Having lots of lag and tank & players flying around. Its seems to be the server.
Also the game freezing for about 1 - 2 seconds for no reason after which you re usually dead. Its awful.
Also the frame rates are back to before the supposed 'omgf' or whatever it is.
Using an old PC with pfsense as a router which works very well.
Planetside 2 ports are put to the highest priority.
ISP is optusnet. Its not the greatest but ok.
Was just playing and was happening so stopped playing the game.
It seems to be the norm right now its playing so bad.
Whenever it happens I goto www.pingtest.net to test internet quality. Its nearly always rated A with no packet loss.
Its the server apparently, or the internet connection it uses.
IS SOE aware how bad it is?
Is it some ploy to try and make PC gamers go out & buy as PS4. Trust me that will not work.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I'm experiencing the same issues on Mattherson. Live in New Orleans, with Cox Cable. I've unfortunately been one of those people following threads for possible "fixes". None of them worked. So far what I did was re-seat my RAM into the other slots, clean and repaste the heatsink from the CPU, and did a hard reset on my router and updated the firmware. Also separated the 2.4ghz from the 5ghz SSID names on the router. When running WinTimerTester_1.1 I get a clean 1.0 almost around 80 seconds with the slight .9999 occuring intermittently. I also installed Leatrix. While I've noticed a slight difference in how well my machine runs now, it has not made any difference in having random de-sync issues which has rendered the game unplayable at this moment.

    Specs
    ASUS Z87, i5 4670k, 16GB Corsair, 256SSD, GTX 760 EVGA 2GB.

    @OP
Packet loss on certain hops usually means those router do not reply your ping. Nothing special and not necessarily a problem. It's either a network related problem or the server machine itself. My guess it's the current server build.

@Leatrix (and other "network tuning tools"). Do not use them unless you know what they are doing. In regard of PS2 leatrix does nothing because PS2 uses UDP, not TCP (nearly (?) all first person shooters do because it's faster).

I also get it. I play from Florida, and my ping is normally 250. It goes from 250 to 5000 for a few seconds, massive desync, then back to normal. I don't think they have their server in a very good datacenter, or the server itself is outdated hardware.
  7. Murderer

Had my ISP come by today and re-work the cabling and also got a new modem. Seems to be a bit better. I'll still follow up
  8. Murderer

Still not working well. Starting to think it's not on my end for sure
  9. Incentive Legend

I also get incredibly bad desync on briggs server.

I live in brisbane australia and so my ping settles fine at 60ms, then suddenly jumps to over 100000 ms. Rebooting modem seems to fix issue temporarily but then it happens again a few hours later when i log back in.

Issue only occurred after previous infiltrator patch.

Those symptoms described above by the OP are issues that i am also experiencing.
  10. Ikissyourface

Same problems as stated above. This is something new this never happened before. Not only on Briggs I also play on US west. Ping spikes of over 1000+ its unplayable, it goes back to normal occasionally but the ping spikes keeps on happening over and over throughout.

Its due to these reasons why my main is on Connery and second on briggs - I am in Melbourne as well and mostly Connery plays better for me than Briggs
  12. PS2viciado

    Unplayable for me
i live in portugal, Optic Fiber 57MB, ping never goes above 15ms for portuguese servers but for planetside... 2k...15k...32k... RIDICULOUS !
  13. Liquidsun

Same on Miller playing from France - massive lag, desync, 4+ second delay, things floating around, blah, blah, blah!

    Cancelled subscription, awaiting fix.
  14. MykeMichail

Briggs is terrible for me at the moment.

I have 60 ms ping to the server, as show by the game. Occasionally its as low at 45 ms. Rarely it gets up to 75 ms.

    Yet I experience:

    - Instant deaths at extreme ranges from low damage weapons (SMG feels like sniper rifle)
    - Continuing to get hit several seconds after I've gone into cover
    - Grenades I'm on the opposite side of walls to killing me
    - Tank rounds killing me despite landing on opposite sides of hills (because I was there like 5 seconds ago)
    - Watching my bullets hitting someone and getting no hit market/no damage when they kill me
    - Even when getting hitmarkers, I seem to require 15+ rounds to kill anyone, with almost any weapon. Its like 1/3 of my rounds aren't doing damage.
    - Getting killed by people who on my screen never fired a shot before I killed them

I'm not sure if this is actually a server issue, or its simply caused by the fact that Briggs has so many foreign players playing with 200 ms+ pings.

I'm also reporting extreme lag/desync for tonight as well.

    Most likely a server issue
  16. KO-tic

NaW they fix it, soon after they done with eu

    However it's not that bad

I mean I play with around 300 -250 ms and I see no problems yet
  17. MykeMichail

    Should add to my issue:

    - Taking several seconds - yes several seconds, to switch seats in a vehicle
    - Taking several seconds to access a terminal
    - Taking several seconds to exit a vehicle or enter one

When I'm in smaller fights (like 1-12 v 1-12), most of these problems go away. I'm running the game has 60+ FPS up until we start hitting fights of around 120 people (based on seeing both sides with +48 and one side having 60% population), and my ping is generally between 60 and 70 the whole time.

My guess is the server simply isn't keeping up with high volumes of players.
