I would just rather use the nanomeave armor than the advanced shied....... whats your take, and what do you have equipped?
Flak level 3, got sick of getting podded, hasn't helped much I'd go with the advanced shield since I use med kits, means less waiting for your shields after you've pop'd one.
Flak seems to be the most helpful if you cert high. Helps against all vehicles, nades, mines, rockets, and grenade launchers!
I have flak armor 4. It allows me to survive a single AP mine. Granted, I'm almost dead, but I know somewhere I'm ruining someone's day eating their mines and not dying from them. it also lets me laugh off grenades. 39% damage reduction from explosions is a big deal in a game with so many explosions. I'd love to get 5 for the 50% reduction, but it's too pricey for me at the moment and 4 does me well enough. Nano or shield capacitor never saved me like flak armor does.
