Could someone explain the advantage of the KSR 35 that actually costs certs vs the stock semi auto 99SV? Stats are better on the SV when comparing...
What cyb_ said. Possibility to use the CQ optics. I don't have the stats close but I think KSR35 also has 50m/s less muzzle velocity. I wouldn't bother with the KSR-35 to be fair. You'll regret spending certs on that weapon.
Thanks for the inputs cyb_. I totally agree, Sworaven, and that is my point: it sounds like a pointless gun at the moment. It does suffer a couple of weaker stats. Rest assure I did not buy it but I was wondering.
It's not my favourite weapon but some people seem to like it. I think Ravenorth has got about 18k kills with the Phantom now. Generally speaking, I think most people are better off with either a bolt-action or a scoutrifle. The KSR-35 might be worth checking out when you've got so many certs saved up you don't know what to spend them on. Who knows, you might be one of those people who actually like it. I think the decreased muzzle velocity doesn't really affect this weapon that much. It's got access to the CQ optics and it isn't really meant to be used for picking off targets at longer ranges anyway. Really? Why do you prefer it over a bolt-action? Or the 99SV/Gauss SPR/Spectre?
I do not like SMGs, hate biolabs and I usually run with my squad. Medium range (and sometimes close range) is, what I use the weapon for. You can flank quite well with it. The KSR-35 a bit trickier to use than the HSR-1 or Vandal but does more damage - and to deal more damage is always nice. Semi auto rifles are a tiny bit more forgiving and using a scope larger than 4x is not working for me at the ranges I engage in. 2x scope is all I need. (Using the 99SV was possible - but hard for me, because it almost always felt like I was a bit to close to the enemy.) You cannot effort to miss many shots or to need much time to reload your BASR - you will get owned by full auto spray. I have not put much time into the low zoom BASR (TSAR-42 in my case) yet. I still need to auraxy it. With straight pull bolt it could be another option for me as well.
When in doubt, the best advice is to test them in the VR Range, as stock as well with addons. Then Trial the weapon in a stock test in actual combat, the only real way to determine if it's suiting your needs an playstyle, one persons cup of tea might not taste good to you.
The 99SV is either "mid-long range" or "up in your face hipfire shotgun" range. I suspect the KSR-35 is "mid range" or "up in your face hipfire shotgun" range.
