PlanetSide 2 crash when exit game

Is this being looked at? Its not a massive issue for me, as I very rarely get actual in game crashes. Just a bit annoying that you get the error when you exit the game as this sometimes can lock up the PC while it tries to load the error.
  2. WilliamB

Same issue here; been that way for weeks now.
Don't think they care too much, it's xmas and most of the dev are on vacation after the release marathon.
  3. Metallic

Oh, so I'm not the only one?

The game never exits normally, it always crashed when I do "exit". :(

I've been in since early beta, and I've had this crash since the beginning. The reason I'm posting though is because now the game has been crashing much more frequently while playing. It locks up after most of my 8GBs of RAM get devoured. Usually I'm at about 75% active when the game freezes, then crashes to desktop. I've put in a support ticket but haven't received a response.
  6. Skyturnedred

I get this crash everytime too. Normally it wouldn't be a huge issue, but since I'm still using WinXP, the crash results in a music loop, and it takes a few minutes to actually shut down the game (even when trying to do so manually), so it keeps hogging up my memory while it lasts.

9 times out of 10 I'll get the error "Planetside 2 has stopped working" when I exit the game and have to click on close program to proceed. So far it hasn't seemed to do anything like corrupt game files but it does irk me that it always closes by crashing. The error report is below.

Alternatively I get this error "Planetside 2 stopped working" Cant say if they are different errors or the same thing but it reliably happens when I exit the game.

For the first time ever it didn't crash on exit today, maybe it's was fixed after my post lol.
  13. Blaank

Crashes on exit ever since I started playing after open beta happened. I've never had it NOT crash when I hit the exit button from the character selection menu.
  14. Cl1mh4224rd

I just noticed that there are two events logged in the Event Viewer (on Windows 7 Ultimate x64, in my case):

Doesn't seem all that useful to me, but hey...

I've seen it done before, but... honestly... it's pointless for a dev to respond to a thread like this and state that they're aware of the problem. There will be (and have already been) a half dozen or more threads about this same topic. Just because there hasn't been a response in this thread doesn't mean they aren't aware of it. Maybe a dev has acknowledged it in a now-forgotten thread. It would be extremely foolish to expect them to repeat the same thing in each thread. They have real work to do.

And what purpose would it serve, anyway? Instead of people complaining about lack of confirmation, they start crying about it being "a week since they said they were working on it, and still no fix!"
  15. Jesus669

The game is even crashing on server disconnects for being afk too long.
  16. SpiroTris

I'm pretty sure they're aware of the problem... the main question is how can we help them find the solution.

I'm happy I don't crash mid-game every 20 minutes like some people... THAT would suck :)
  17. VioletViridian

+1 same issue. Crash on exit ALWAYS and sometimes on startup. Buffer overflow exception (BEX) , data mitigation.
  18. FunkOTrunk

I have the same two repeated event logs as Cl1mh4224rd.

Start the game, wait 5-10 minutes, click logout, click exit = SMASH when I'm back to the desktop.

I traced the crash dump and included the details.
