SOE Punishing High Pay, but Non Members

They should not have removed this for players who don't have memberships.

12 is not alot to some players....but there are players who can't play alot or are just plan bad that this did help. Not everyone has a good spm.

It's also a reason for players to log in every day and then possible play the game. It seems like SoE is getting pretty desperate at this point and are making bad choices instead of a better game

I can see how it is a negative, but personally I see it as a massive plus.

The daily ribbons are too much of an ask for me to bother to play for every day, up to 30 minutes of the dire game play grind is beyond me.

Logging in to get the certs every day was getting to be a massive ask as well, it could take between 1-2 minutes to do that with the speed of logging in.

My next challenge is simply to have this title installed and an icon on my desktop. I will be working on this Herculean task.

I don't have to ever play it nor even bother to login. Between the instagib, non--existent game play outside of TDM on a big map and no certs I have been given the ultimate freedom to not bother any more at all.

Thank you SOE, I for one am a very happy bunny among the sad pandas and also the moral dilemma of +1 playerbase for just logging in and out has been resolved for me.

I now do not contribute in any way to this title and that for me is big money, big prizes, I love it.

I know you say this wasn't made in a vacuum, but to EVERYONE WHO PLAYS this game, this is counter intuitive, this goes against what your goals are (If they are what you claim), and there are many better ways to go about this. Certainly you guys pitched ideas, but was the idea of "adding" too costly? Too many resources to get done? Was subtracting a small thing, however small, a better choice than to simply add something to be an incentive?

As people have said, why isn't there a special place for people who have spent money, like how you could have bronze for completely free members, silver for people who have technically bought the game and spent money, and then gold for subscription members?

Couldn't you give subscribers a larger incentive? Couldn't they simply have gotten more certs?

12 certs isn't a lot, but it IS something, and you are taking it away from both free and paying customers.

Couldn't free players receive 12, paying receive 24 and give 72 to subscribers? Think about me and others who pay, but don't subscribe, we fund your jobs, we support the continuation of this game.

An easy suggestion by me, would appease more people, probably incline more people to spend some minimum amount of money, and even then maybe promote people to subscribe because you show respect to the people who fund this game. That maybe we aren't giving money to the wrong people, to the wrong company.

It can't be that hard, if it is, the question becomes who does this money get spent on? If not the people qualified to get it done.

To think removal of such a little thing to you, could shake the community in the wrong way, it is just the idea of what it implies.

Whilst your completely right about my money issues being nothing to do with SOE. In what way does that make my payments inferior to those who can afford membership? People keep saying to buy membership or go without, but not everybody can afford membership and yet we still pay towards the game occasionally. Why not have a three tiered player base to distinguish those of us who occasionally buy SC from those who don't contribute to the game?
  5. Bape

I never paid for membership and now they removing my 12 cert which I use on my alt which I barely play?

    They done ****** up now.

    Bring it back!

SOE should find a solution for people like me, who dont coop with banks. I would love to become a member, spent some more cash etc. but i can`t as i "only" got cash. Means my only way of payment is paysafe-card.

Oh...talking about paysafe-card. Everytime i buy 2500 SC for 22 euros, i have to buy a 25 euro paysafe-card, means everytime 3 euros for nothing. I have a bunch of paysafecards laying around here with 3 euros left on it and i can throw it into the trashcan, i`d really prefer giving the money to you. You can do that better SOE.

I really wish they didn't remove passive certs. Those 12 certs on login were the only way I could get anywhere, seeing that I'm so bad that I only get about 20-30 certs per hour.
  9. maxwell smart

i just checked my sc account history and im not sure if all transactions are listed?
1/4/13 is the first time i got an item it says but no info to how much i added?
    anyone else have that?
is this due to change from PSG too SOE?

but back to topic i think ppl that pay should have certian features of membership.
    but not as much.
after u spent 100 euros why not a junior membership?
    10% of member features.
    no sc shop bonus.
    6 free certs a day.

well but if u spent 400$ u should get a reward of some kind and maybe a 2 month full membership?
add a reward system for non-memberes who spend that much!! that would be cool.
rewards every 50$$$ u spend on SC ^^
come on SOE i would really love u then ^^

It's really a.. 'mean' move to all F2Ps. Sure, if you're high level and skilled in the game then it means nothing to you, but new or worse players rely on those a lot. I logged in every day to get those 12 certs, get the Ribbon bonuses and then go on with my day, since I can't play too often and the game doesn't run well enough - the lagspikes and other issues are way too annoying.

Don't punish F2P players. Sure, someone currently playing might subscribe, but then you'll have people leaving the game, speaking worse of it and having less new players arrive.

I like the game because of the class system, vehicles and overall base capture. If SOE continues to just remove & nerf stuff then I'll just go over to Battlefield or the classic Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. They've got what I want.

See Chris? That, I completely agree with, if only to follow the norm among many F2P games that do offer a subscription as well as a cash store.

On the flip side, you can't really be surprised SOE is doing this; this move is purely to promote membership in pursuit of the almighty dollar, as many have mentioned. In my opinion, they waited this long to roll this out because they now believe the large majority of people who are going to ever play this game, are now playing this game. So now Little Johnny Battle Rank Ten is probably going to feel more compelled to subscribe to a membership to get up to speed with the rest of the player base.

Membership doesn't have to be a monthly thing.
I got mine on sale, 8.99/mth, but its all paid up front for the whole year. you could even do 6 months the same way.
half of that money you get back every month in SC, and you can cancel at the end if you like.
really not much different than a one shot SC purchase, but you do get a nice little bonus in certs and XP every time you play!
The only reason I didn't do it earlier was I didn't want some game banging my CC every month,
which is what I believed it was at first for some reason.

But I do believe for new players learning the game for the first time, those 12 certs are gold!
and I do wonder if this all has something to do with PS4 version.

How are your personal problems SOE's or anyone else concerns? If you're having trouble making ends meet, you don't need to be worrying about what you can get for free from SOE. Here's a tip: disconnect your internet and cable. That'll save you a lot of money every month. Put that into a vocational training program.

So on one hand, you can't make ends meet and you need to spend your dollars to get maximum value out of every dollar you spend....and yet you're just paying out of charity towards SOE to help keep the game going. I'm getting mixed messages.

I know what's being suggested. I just think it's a bit self serving. I also think it's the perogative of SOE to manage their game as they see fit. If they want to hand out freebies to people who spent ten bucks two years ago, that's their choice. I just take exception to this "you owe me because that's what other games do," mentality. My position is that you, as a customer, have gotten exactly what you have paid for and have no right to expect or demand anything more.

Like I said before, if you are that close to starving, if fifteen dollars will make or break you, then you need to re-evaluate your priorities in life. Everything about this game is a "Luxury Item". It's a want, not a need. I suggest you NOT starve, and instead focus on core necessities and education to pull yourself up out of the economic strata in which you currently find yourself.

I never really understood the point of giving non-members passive certs in the first place, so I'm not really disappointed with the change. (no more logging in on my alts just to scrounge certs)

I agree that this move will potentially hit new players but they would be better helped if every new character got something like 100-200 certs to start off with instead of 12/day that they don't even know about.

Go from subbing to just Planetside 2 to "All Access" which grants subscription benefits in 6 other games besides Planetside 2.

People saying SOE isn't adding enough value to membership.

Wow. Just wow. People just don't appreciate anything anymore.
  16. volth

Why not keep that 12 cert but give members more certs. Maybe 60-70 certs each 24 hour (we have about 48now). Or more resources, free camos or other items each month.
  17. Chris Bingley

£10 a month for cable isn't breaking the bank and certainly won't pay for a £400 course just so that I can go to a university/college (which will then cost an aweful lot more).

That's because I sometimes get the option to work extra hours and I like to invest that money in something that I get enjoyment out of, in this case a game that I happen to enjoy playing.

Isn't it also self serving for you to deny us a little something as recognition, just because you can afford to pay for membership. Afterall, the only real reason to argue that people who occasionally pay what they can don't get recognition is so that you can feel superior to those of us who can't.

Like I mentioned, the small amount that I pay towards this game will not buy me an education. It won't even pay for the course I'd have to complete just to get into a vocational course at a college or university. Yes this game is a luxury item, yes I don't have to pay for it or the internet. However, what am I supposed to do when I'm not working, stare at a blank wall. If I cancelled my internet, and stopped paying SOE an odd £10 here and there, I would save a total of £160pa. that would mean i would have to go without any form of entertainment for 3 years, before I could afford to get an education. I weould then have to complete a one year entry course followed by a full three year course, just to get a better job.

As for my actual job, here's the thing. I'm a fully qualified chef, with close to 16 years of experience in the catering industry. However, with the current economic situation, fewer people are eating at restaurants and I'm left having to take a comi-chef position (I used to be Head Chef of a Restaurant called Old Orleans, that specialised in Cajun, Creol and Tex-Mex foods) just to make ends meet.

You don't know me. You've never met me. You just automatically assumed that I'm some bum with no education complaining because he thinks the world owes him. I never made any assumptions about you, until this post where I mentioned that I believe you are a paying member. We all have our problems. We all have our issues. All I'm suggesting is that it would be nice for SOE to give all it's paying customers some recognition, not just its members.

After all. We fund this game too.

And what if we don't any of those game just cause you get something for free doesn't mean it has value to YOU. Here's some freed candy from my pocket it has no wrapper and is covered in lent but it's free so why are you complaining.
  19. Taemien

Because that isn't how buying things works.

You don't get a bonus 15 dollar membership perk for buying everything but a membership.

Try it, go to Walmart and buy $400 worth of stuff and try to get a $0.50 item for free. You won't.
  20. Jachim

What about when my sub runs out? I'm not saying a large portion of that $400 WAS NOT in a subscription. Now that it's over I'm tossed into the gutter. Most F2P models have some sort of reward system for people who've spent money, but maybe can't afford it right now.
