Again people, stop trying to put words into my mouth. I never said any of that. Stop trying to change the subject.
  2. Luighseach

On my server most of them play engineers. (Waterson)
  3. BattleMage

I do play as a heavy. Here is one of my charcters https://players.planetside2.com/#!/5428147970879154049.

"we go down just like everybody else & if you shoot in the right place,"
Over shields protect against headshots so shooting in the right place is irrelevant.
  4. Hatesphere

the headshot damage multiplier still works through the over shield as far as I understand.
  5. BattleMage

Sorry I mispoke. Not the highest scoring, the most kills. Search those who have the most kills.
  6. maxkeiser

People don't seem to understand that the Heavy should be the main soldier in the army. A medic or engineer should not feel that they should be able to easily face a heavy one on one. The heavy should win most times because that is his speciality - infantry combat.

The medics/engineers are support classes and are supposed to leave infantry 'grunt' duty to the HA.

brains OP, well on the case of the original poster its not that OP
  8. BattleMage

But the over shield is not negated by a headshot like nanoweave is, it simply has the normal damage multipler on top of the 1.5x health given by the overshield.

I think what the guy is trying to say is that every class has its benefits, and the heavy's benefit is that we can take more bullets as we have more firepower and we have the heavy protection from our overshields. Our con though is that we don't get jetpacks to assault bases like the light assault guys do, and also our overshields don't protect us forever.

We've got the MAX as well, which has the bulk protection and could be considered the real bulletsponge in the game, but they forfeit speed for attacking power and durability.

The infils have stealth on their side, enough said on that. Engineers & Medics are utility classes so they're really like the light assault guys, except one gets healing powers for users and one gets healing powers for vehicles and base items.

The reason I say they're like light assault btw, is because light assault have jetpacks which could be considered a utility.

I disagree with this idea. One of the main reason why they have the shield is so they can survive vs armor while sending out that rocket.

Also would this mean that medics would have to choose between med gun or AOE? Engi's have to choose turret or repair tool?

I honestly believe this would be more frustrating than its worth since their are so many terminals in game that it would be moot anyway. They would have the shield in infantry fights and pull a rocket when they need it.

Also if OHK with rockets is the reason this would annoy then they got fixed with the buff to max flak armor or at least makes it less rewarding (even though its not that rewarding as is).

    Just my opinion of course.

    Really?

I would go on but there is no point – you are spouting nonsense. HA is nowhere on the leaderboards for kills OR score. Try actually looking up your ‘evidence’ before demanding that it supports asinine assumptions.

I meant more if you shoot us before our overshields go up, and if you're a sniper, we don't really have the chance to put them up. Also the overshield is only as good as how much you've spec'd into it. For arguments sake, you could say that perhaps the length of time overshields can be put up should be further limited, or not let it protect from every bullet.
  13. BattleMage

Every class has ONE ability that sets it apart from others. Medics can heal themselves and others, engis can heal vehicles, LA's have manuveability, etc. But heavies have TWO abilities: 1)can engage land/air vehicles at range and 2) increased survivability from overshield. Thats what I have been saying.

Still mostly Engineers played as their top class. Top is LA, next is engi and engi, then a heavy player but then engi, engi, medic LA. Think of the top 10 on my server only 2 play Heavy as their main class.(This is top kills)
  15. BattleMage

Once again, I said I mispoke. Look up MOST KILLS, not the highest scoring.
  16. Luighseach

The problem you seem to be having is that most of the people with the top kills on a server also have high score on that server. They do that mainly in vehicles making them play Engineer more making it their most played class.
  17. FA_Q2

The second list IS most kills.
  18. BattleMage

You have a very good point and thats probably why most of the people are engi's and not heavies on the leaderboard. I really dont know a better way to track the stats that prove what I am trying to say.
  19. RyanGUK

Yeah I see where you're coming from now that you put it like that. Most people wouldn't see engaging vehicles at range as an ability though, seeing as everybody can climb into a vehicle and do that themselves.

But if you consider that a ability, consider this:

Engineers can heal vehicles AND they can deploy turrets, plus hack other panels.
Medics can heal other people... I dunno if they have another ability that gives them more combat prowess?
LAs have maneuverability but I dunno what else they have.
MAX s can engage with land & air as well as infantry + they have their bulk on their side.
And like you said, heavies have those two abilities.

That's the thing, I wouldn't consider land/air engagement as an ability but if you did, you'd have to call it their combat effectiveness rather than an ability.
  20. Ragmon

I just checked out the top players on Woodmen, Most of 'em are Engineers, saw 2 who had LA on the side as main classes, and 1 NC guy with Engi and HA. SO I have to say for my server your point is invalid.
