Should the Ratonga be in EverQuest Next?

Have as many races to chose from as possible, with their own language and own kingdoms. Learning to speak another language so you can intermingle with other races and other kingdoms would be challenging and a fun accomplishment.

If done correctly than other races can be very fun part of the game. Unlocked races are not normally done but if races are very unique than having unlock-able content would be very appropriate.

I'll say what I'm going to say in all my first post in each thread - better being repetitive than being mistook as trolls - I have not read all the post here so please forgive me if I'm going to be captain obvious and say something that is already been said. Actually I got quite discouraged on reading all when I saw more than two hundreds pages in some threads!

Well I actually do not like the idea of the Rat in Boots, I'm a cat lover...
Just joking, I must agree with people who said the more races the better but at the same time I'm not a fun of the novelty of niche breeds. I like classics.

That said with the disney-cartoon-like (or Wildstar-like) character design I think that every race gonna be amazing!
P.S.: As someone has said some races should be less goofy and more fierce!

Novelty races I hate say are becoming more popular with the weekend warrior rpg'ers out there. So now we are forced to deal with this influx of meat headed wants and desires from people more focused on perks and eye candy rather than actual game play and game design.

As for the start I would say stick to the basics until the game is ironed out an running smoothly, then add in the dolt races for the itty bitty ones that desire roleplaying a mouse with a bastard sword. For the start keep it simple and easy to handle and let the game get it's legs and bearings before going crazy with novelty races.

This race should only make it if gets an overall positive review. For me it doesn't matter. If someone is a ratonga, and the race isn't played that much, then that person has a uniqueness about them.............on on the basis of uniqueness, then yes....bring them into the fold.

Novelty races could be unlocked through killing like 1000+ creatures of that type, or something, until one of them finally tells you to stop and gives a quest. I don't see them as necessary selection when the game launches. I've killed too many 'a giant rat''s to want to play them as of right now.. but I might change my mind later and would definitely commit rat genocide for it if that's what it took to unlock.

honestly, i would prefer to have dog people or werewolves then rats.

I would rather see trolls in than rats.

Ratongas are part of the game.

Faes weren't asked about but have been mentioned. They are my fav.

Novelty races have been around since frogloks were in EQ. Really, you could call the iksar a novelty race, and they've been with us since launch. The Vah Shir/Kerrans have been around since the Luclin expac.... in what, like 2002?

I say go crazy with the races, let's have more, more, more. Make yourselves some money and make them unlockable with SC (maybe after a rallying call event) so that people who know they'll never play a froglok or ratonga don't have to unlock them. I want Othmirs, sirens, werewolves, centaurs..... Make some kind of bug people and I would buy that, too. The more the merrier. Yall will make a serious anusload of cash from me if that's how it works, and I know I can't be alone there.

At least a few non-humanoid races should be available at launch, though, it's a storied EQ tradition and part of what has distinguished the franchise from the beginning, the comparatively huge variety of races including novelties.

Pssst. The iksar didn't arrive until the 1st EQ expansion. So, they weren't in at inception, but arrived about a year later.

I've never been one much for playing as a Ratonga or even short races but in guild wars 2 there was this item box that could turn you into a creepy looking rat type race for a short time, with the way they looked and how they were designed it felt really fun, So if Ratonga were designed well and don't look like Hamtaro... I would definitely play as a Ratonga rogue or something, creeping up on my target to sink my daggers into the enemy's back!

I dont like rats but if they have to be in name them chetari

I would let Chetari (ratonga) be in and more... ORC please , goblin, kobold and gnoll should be playable to... dont forget iksar and why not dragorn from eq1 gate of discord.

fae are kinda small but that would make them original.
