if anyone is trying to get their house in but having problems due to today's downtime, we need to know now. we can extend a couple of hours if needed. otherwise we will be shutting the contest at 11:59 pst

When the judges get finished - with all of the down time and the fact that this covers 4 servers - we are not rushing the judges - they will let us know when they have an answer. if it takes a couple more days we won't complain. we know they are doing a wonderful job and are waiting for the answers.

hmm- difficult to keep cauldrons lit during the rain. lot of people down here celebrated last night because of the rain forecast. trick or treating is dead tonight

Well, at any rate, Happy Halloween, New Year's, etc.! It's almost done here in California; you folks farther east might even be asleep by now, but just remember one of the great holiday classic books; ranks right up there with A Christmas Carol for that holiday...

    "It's big, it's broad...
    It's broad, it's bright...
It fills the sky of All Hallows' Night...

"The strangest tree you've ever seen.
    The Monster Tree on Halloween.

"The leaves have burned to gold and red
The grass is brown, the old year dead,
But hang the harvest high, Oh see!
The candle constellations on the Halloween Tree

"The stars they turn, the candles burn
And the mouse-leaves scurry on the cold wind bourne
And a mob of smiles shines down on thee
From the gourds hung high on the Halloween Tree.

"The smile of the Witch, and the smile of the Cat,
The smile of the Beast, the smile of the Bat,
The smile of the Reaper taking his fee
All cut and glimmer on the Halloween Tree..." --from The Halloween Tree, Ray Bradbury, pgs. 28-30; Bantam Books, 1972

The made-for-TV-movie (1993) was cute, and has Leonard Nimoy as the ghost--heh, host, but as good as that was, the book is even better. :D

    On Amazon...

    Uwk
who's very, very partial to dear Mr. B, and The Rise of the Pumpkins event here (AMAZING work!!), and is still strongly considering getting a Fright Manor and putting up a Halloween Tree there (we should have enough pumpkins in-game, unless some enterprising Player's Studio artist wants to try making one for next year)...now, it's just a matter of which of The Horde to do it with ;->
