My connection has been slowing down in the afternoon this week. So it looks like the Internet backbone needs an upgrade.
  6. Leloes Well-Known Member

I noticed the internet seems to be barely moving at this time, too. Sheeesh! Someone needs to feed the hamsters!

And he was in the middle of decorating a Dimensional Pocket to look like a Dragon's Cave, on Kaladim. I was making tons of Ogg Stone Tables and waterfalls, and other water features and anything else he needed and he almost had the cave portion completely built, and BAM!!!! No more logging in. With the water features I had to just drop them in the house since they are no-trade, so he could place them when he could get back in, the rest luckily I could put them in his moving crate. I think I made 147 Ogg Stone Tables so far and until he is done building that cave portion, I don't know if I have made enough yet. That whole lower area when you zone in and go down all the stairs straight in front of you to the lowest point is a completely enclosed cave with 4 rooms and ceilings.

    Let me explain this:
    1) vcredist_x86.exe in folder of full client of this game contains tested and compatible version for this game. When you start it, it offers the option to "repair." Why is this needed? Because in installed vcredist's in Windows OS is occasional changes are made, from some programs and/or updates (external or from OS itself). By repairing, you restore what is needed so that you don't have a bunch of errors in addition to existing ones (with this game). Devs did very correctly by placing this in client folder. It happens that you can read about errors associated with this components when system gives you report about error that occurred. In this forum I have seen examples of such system messages. You can constantly click on this vcredist_x86.exe in the game folder - definitely won’t get any worse. But problem can be fixed.
    2) It's not need to copy game client to another hdd, because you can simply copy folder with game client to another location on same drive (deleting previous one to save space), in some cases it's enough to rename it. What for? For writing for game new ways and new temporary places for some things. Thus, cutting off the “buggy” or issues component (if simply renamed well or move too). Or you can copy client to directory with other user rights. If you play a game such as EQii it's optimal that you are the owner of files in the game client (who copies is owner of copied files).
And not OS, or you as an admin. Optimal for this game, for its client to use user (home) folders. For example, such as "my documents". It's possible that after this you will forget about problems with this game. You should not install this game other than how it does it. And it’s not real.
Therefore, they prescribed fixed path for installation. Therefore, to more or less standardize questions of users regarding errors (because it's clear what and where. But I don't like of this).
If you install a game, for example, in mentioned, “my documents” (or what is it named now in Windows?), as administrator; then this will be other than if after installing you will copy all this stuff to same folder but as with rights regular user.
And apropos: Windows is difficult system. Therefore, it turns out that its users themselves in most cases are to blame for their problems. When you want to drive car, you learn rules, right? It amazes me that people also don’t want to learn OS rules to "drive" without any problems. Perhaps it will be right to say here that most of folders with programs for Windows can be copied to different location and these programs will work well. For example, browsers. And you don't have to reinstall this programs. You can simply extract them from archives you made earlier. For example, vast majority of computer games for Windows don't need to be installed to play them (only first time you need to install it)
If any of written is unclear - forget :)

The guy from AT&T will be here any minute and I'm really hoping and praying we can get a modem and that it'll make a difference in my internet connection. This really sucks the way it is right now!
  10. Wulfgyr I've got friends in EQ2Wire places

I know it probably doesn't help - but I can remember playing EQ1 on a 56.6k modem when I first started.

Man, when we first got RoadRunner by Time Warner, I thought I was going to have a heart attack, we were going so fast!
  11. Leloes Well-Known Member

LOL Yeah, my brother had RR at one point and he really loved it!
  12. Uwkete-of-Crushbone Well-Known Member

Oh no, not AT&T...if you're on DSL, like we are, then yeah, it's gonna take a whiiiiiiiiiile... :-/

The gods' pity on you, son. Good luck! :-/

Hmm...got in, had the Lag Spike-O-Meter shoot way up into the double digits almost immediately, got booted to the infamous "Trying login server #1" garbage, which was followed by "...#2" and "...#3" so apparently they meant it, then the "All lines are busy now. Call you back later" sort of error message before deciding to Quit. Went back in, almost successfully, only to be told that I had an "invalid login name or password" and it wanted me to re-enter my info on the old-fashioned fill in the blank type box. Since I'd ALREADY filled in my login name and password initially (to, duh, re-login again), I didn't trust it and got back out again.

Could this so-called "No assets found" error, among others, also be indicative of someone remotely messing about with my account? :-/

The one to whom you send connection request may try (DBG, right?). To whom do you send request to connect (except DBG?)? What else can this indicate? Obviously, somewhere it was buggy and you got an error in registry, congratulations! I say write all again at other addresses. And in general, clean system from duplicates and repair/clean registry.
For these programs, for these links, I somehow.. well, more or less I would trust them to dig deeper into system:

(I'm glad, I’m just happy that I don’t use Windows, antiviruses and all this other headache..)
But still, just in case, check them with this online tool (I have many different browser extensions that prevent me from doing this myself)

I'm sorry. I remember, earlier I had to wait three days for the client to load three times smaller than this one :(

If the download is reset and starts again, you need to urgently do something about it. One of the solutions from DBG seems appropriate in this case https://help.daybreakgames.com/hc/en-us/sections/203936237-Download-and-Patching-Problems And you wrote to them? https://help.daybreakgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
    plus
In idea, this should be in order if you do as it is written here and here:
