[Guide] How to use Your Online Resources

We have several resources at our disposal, and these are by no means all of them. They are, however, the ones most relevant to decorators (and my favorites). This can be handy when people ask, "Where can I find...?" and you don't know the answer offhand.

    eq2furniture.com
eq2wire.com (same site where EQ2u is located)
    eq2.wikia.com (also known as EQ2i)
    eq2zam.com
    eq2.eqtraders.com
    eq2decorators.com

These resources have nearly everything you could possibly want to know about the game's furniture. All you have to do is look for it. Sometimes, however, finding the information isn't as easy as looking at the page and clicking on a category, especially if you don't know the name of what you're looking for.

So here is a handy dandy guide to finding what you're looking for! Instead of posting screenshots (which can eat up some serious bandwidth for people who only get a certain amount each month), I've placed the links to each picture below its description of how to do that part of the search.

I'll start with my absolute favorite site...

    EQ2 Furniture

When you click on the site, here is what you'll see. There's a whooooole lot of categories there, and there's a whole lot to fish through.

    http://i.imgur.com/SV6xsci.png

Let's say you want to find all the furniture sold by the Qeynosian faction "Tunarian Alliance." Go to the the Search Tab, find the field that says "Faction," and select "The Tunarian Alliance." There are all sorts of filters to search just about any furniture item you want, even without knowing the item's name.

    http://i.imgur.com/VDgMp1m.png

Voila! You now have every furniture item the Tunarian Alliance sells.

    http://i.imgur.com/8dkXFUz.png

Now let's say you want to see what gods are available. First, it's important to know what category those wonderful, 37-million status gods fall into. They are not statues, so you will not find them in the statue section. These are the only statues of gods that I know of in the game.

    >God Statues<

Those pretty, 37-million status gods are, in fact, plushies. (Interestingly enough, there's no Rallos Zek plushie. Fix this, devs! Please?)

    >God Plushies<

So to find the gods on EQ2 Furniture, you need to go to the plushies section and then select "Humanoids."
Hint, Hint: Lera, it would be really nice to have the gods in a section labeled "Gods" instead of "Humanoids."

    http://i.imgur.com/lKYtWix.png

To find a specific god, just search for its name alphabetically, so Tunare would be between the troll zombie plushie and the V'uul guard.

    http://i.imgur.com/4lbpqJp.png

Let's say you really like the weathered bookcase you just bought or made, and you know there's more like it, but you don't know their names. You can do an item search by typing in "Weathered." You can further narrow it down by selecting only mastercrafted items.

    http://i.imgur.com/xfbRn22.png

This brings up every item with the word "weathered" in it, but wait. Why is it still listing items that are no longer in game and all the old crude crafted stuff?

    http://i.imgur.com/q4Ef8Ob.png

To fix that, you go to the Options tab and toggle the switch from "Show" to "Hide" for whatever you don't want to see. That will hide removed items or dungeons items or whatever you select from your search.

    http://i.imgur.com/AppsjrB.png

There's another wonderful thing I love about Lera's site. It tells me exactly where I can buy or quest for the item or which recipe book I need to craft it. Even further, remember that troll zombie? I recognize the quest and know it gives me other house items. I want to see what other house items that quest offers, so I click on the quest name.

    http://i.imgur.com/Eei6WK5.png

Up comes all of the house items that quest offers. Neat, huh?

    http://i.imgur.com/2ATXFyw.png

    EQ2Wire / EQ2u

This site ties for second favorite along with another, and it's a great resource for finding not only house items but armor and weapons as well.

    http://i.imgur.com/L6WuU4G.png

So we go to the item search page by selecting "Wire Network" and "Search for EQ2 Items."

    http://i.imgur.com/6woA8ex.png

I want to find the Tunare plushie, so I type in "Tunare" and select house items.

    http://i.imgur.com/ktY7e6Y.png

Up pops all the items with the word "Tunare" in them. From there, I can click on Tunare.

    http://i.imgur.com/IPRyfUm.png

This brings me to a page with the description, discoveries, picture, and other links for this item, including the slash command to link this item in game. These links can tell you where or how to get the item, costs, etc.

    http://i.imgur.com/rqRgYOf.png

Now let's say I want to search for something, and I have no clue what its name might be. I want to know about all of the AOM mastercrafted armor. I go back to the item search, select "Armor," set my level range, and then select "Mastercrafted."

    http://i.imgur.com/Vqhy3mF.png

Up pops all the mastercrafted armor from AOM that we can make... pages and pages of mastercrafted armor. Mousing over it gives me the item's stats. You can narrow the search down even further by select things like "Plate Armor," etc. It's a super handy feature.

    EQ2 Wikia / EQ2i

This site needs people to help create pages and keep pages up-to-date! Interested? There's all sorts of information about how to get started.

    http://i.imgur.com/9HRtjrP.png

There's two ways to search around for things on Wikia. (If someone knows more ways, let me know, and I'll update this information.) The first is by typing in what you want into the search field at the top. So I'm looking for Tunarian Alliance items.

    http://i.imgur.com/bklEWAE.png

Typing "Tunarian Alliance Faction" brings up various pages which might have the information I'm searching for. I select "Tunarian Alliance Faction."

    http://i.imgur.com/8dEbkNw.png

It brings up a simple description of the faction, but I can click on the name in blue to bring up more information.

    http://i.imgur.com/2qBwjHt.png

From there, I can find NPCs, items, quests, etc. I click on Tunarian Alliance NPCs and locate the merchant NPC, Trillium. No, I didn't know his name when I began my search, but it does tell me in convenient black & white text that he sells stuff.

    http://i.imgur.com/DYlXXKE.png

Clicking on him brings up a page with his location, picture, and everything he sells... plus how much it costs and the amount of faction required to buy it.

    http://i.imgur.com/DgW9bAe.png

The other way to find this is by category search, so I want to find the Tunare plushie (again). I click on "Furniture" under "Equipment."

    http://i.imgur.com/7ppHUZ9.png

I know that Tunare is a plushie, so I go to the plushies category where everything is in alphabetical order.

    http://i.imgur.com/pk7p0HH.png

Remember me saying Wikia needed people to create and update pages? Tunare isn't listed in here yet. None of the god plushies are. Doing a search by city merchants reveals they've not been added yet to their lists either. As soon as this information is updated, I will update this post.

    http://i.imgur.com/BRKcGdm.png

    EQ2 Zam

This is a great site for questing help, but it's also good for finding items you may wish to obtain for your house. Remember that information at the bottom of each item on Lera's site? Here's where you can go for your quest information! Just type in the name of the quest, and up pops all your information.

    http://i.imgur.com/lCcVAVX.png

So let's do a house item search. We go to "database," "Items," "Type," and select "House Items."

    http://i.imgur.com/fAfKqwd.png

From there, we get a search field where we can either type in the name of the item or search using filters. So I type in "Tunare." I can also set fields for slot, rarity, class, etc. I don't even need to know the name of what I'm searching for as long as I know what the item itself is, such as mastercrafted T9 plate armor useable by paladins.

    http://i.imgur.com/BBVBy5Z.png

I get a list of house items containing the word "Tunare." This tells me if the item is dropped or quested. It also tells me level and type. The plushie isn't in here, so I'll use the ordained altar for this example. Zam says this item is dropped.

    http://i.imgur.com/RRPNYps.png

Clicking on the name brings up a page with all the mobs that drop this particular altar, their levels, and what the drop rate on the item is.

    http://i.imgur.com/J4UZ3U0.png

Going back, I look up a quested altar.

    http://i.imgur.com/t2uSsNl.png

Clicking on the name brings up the information for that item and the name of the quest that gives it.

    http://i.imgur.com/FAVB5o8.png

Clicking on the quest brings up the quest details. From here, I can see what level the quest is, which quests come before or after, where the quest takes place, what quest chain it belongs to, how to complete the quest, and who gives it.

    http://i.imgur.com/vF5X436.png

I can also do direct search for an item. So I type in "Tunare." It brings up a drop-down menu that tells me what Zam has in its database with the word "Tunare" in it. It also tells me what type it is. As you can see there is no Tunare house item on the list, but there's all sorts of other helpful information. :)

    EQ2 Traders

This is the site that ties for second place right along with EQ2 Wire. I love love love this site! If there is ever anything about crafting you wanted to know, you will find it here. New to crafting? Go check up the guides section. Want to know when an event will be? Look it up on the calendar.

    http://i.imgur.com/C3piZJA.png

This site is a little different from the others in that there is no search feature (that I can find), but everything is broken up into categories on the side. So if I want to look up crafted furniture, I can go to the furniture section and click on what I'm looking for. It also has a section for furniture from the city crafting factions.

    http://i.imgur.com/A8wCL18.png

Faction recipes, as well as Wantia furniture, are not lumped into the same categories as the rest. They have their own separate categories.

    http://i.imgur.com/wNBsDsZ.png

The same goes for holiday crafted items. They get their own tab.

    http://i.imgur.com/1L61rWG.png

    EQ2 Decorators

This site needs some updating, but it's still a handy site to use from time to time.

    http://i.imgur.com/n40Shvf.png

Like EQ2 Traders, there's no search field that I can find, but it does have tutorials, links to Jes'Dyr's layout editor, and showcases. Let's say I want to find the city festival furniture. I click on "Housing Items" and, in the events section, "City Festivals."

    http://i.imgur.com/JUByGEm.png

It brings up items for each festival, items that are at all six festivals, and a schedule for which month each festival will be.

    http://i.imgur.com/TJVMWJT.png

I hope this guide helps people find the information they need to know! Happy decorating!

EQ2 Traders needs a bit of updating too, here and there, but for the basic stuff and the current events, it's a great site! All praise to Denmum! :D

And thanks, Sapph! I think this should be stickied, or included in The Decorator's Resource page! :)

This is perfect! Thank you for putting this together. It needs a sticky for sure!

Love all the tips and infoz! thanks =)
  6. Merriel Well-Known Member

Awesome guide and I agree, it needs to be stickied.

As for Wikia needing people to update their pages...I have tried to follow their instructions but they just simply are not user friendly enough or simple enough for me to understand how to update them. I gave up trying to update pages there for that reason, and is probably why they don't get updated by others as well. They really should simplify it for non-tech-savvy people like me, hehe.

For Zanzmouse... This is the spreadsheet I was telling you about. Jazabelle made it, and it lists the dimensions you wanted for building blocks.

Center points on the dividers are not exactly center.
  9. Uwkete-of-Crushbone Well-Known Member

Yeah, it often depends on the divider. :-/

Also, when it should be in the center for a tile, and it's on an edge, it's figuring out which edge, that's the ticket... :-/

who, after making way too much stuff out of just Vamp Mirrors (both types), realizes that a corner is the pivot...or maybe the middle of one edge... X-P
  10. Sapphirius Well-Known Member

I always pivot something one so I can figure out where the anchor point is before I place it. :)

I usually find out the hard way, since it's very rare indeed that the default position when you go to Place an item is where you need it to be. :-/

EQ2 Decorators will probably never be updated again :S Its run by one of my better friends in-game, one of my former guild leaders. She quit the game a few years ago. I keep trying to drag her back but so far to no avail. Maybe I'll try again right now... :D

Thanks for posting it, Slipps. I know I didn't include it in this thread, and that was intentional. It's already included in the stickied >Deocorating Resources< thread.

This thread wasn't meant to be a list of available resources. It's meant to be a guide/tutorial on how to use some of those sites linked in the resources thread. It's giving instructions on how to find information you might want even if you don't know the item's name. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who don't know how to use search filters... or think that they can't use a site because they don't know the name of the item they're looking for.

That's why I wrote this guide.

who honestly thinks folks just don't try enough these days (on the other hand, I find 3rd-party sites invaluable, since they save a LOT of time, and make sense out of unintuitive quests)...it's okay, nothing will blow up if you use the Search filters! :-/
  19. Sharann Well-Known Member

There's http://www.everseek.com/ as well. Not updated since 2012 but has nice filtering options and a few items I haven't seen elsewhere.
Update: ah well it's contained in the stickied decorating resources thread. Should have checked there first.
