Just as you chose to solo, i chose to raid and or group. It does impact those that chose to group/raid because now to get those items they have to go do solo content which offers zero risk for the reward. Running around a contested zone (thalumbra) killing random trash mobs in hopes of getting a portal to open to get the best helm in game or doing solo quests a 5 year old can do to get keys to open a random chest that has a chance at giving some of the best items in game is not something that makes this game enjoyable for a lot of people. But i guess its okay to make me play your way but god forbid if anyone tells a solo player they have to group/raid to get something like that. There is no need for those items in a solo play style.. i don't understand what is so hard to comprehend about that.

I understand what everyone is saying. Currently I'm a solo/PUG player but back 4 or 5 years ago I was into hardcore raiding and progressing (9th best guild WW at the time). i think what so many people are getting at is if raid gear was available to people like me who solo and PUG than why is raiding in the game. If raid tiered gear was available to folks of my play style than why go through the trouble of raiding. why spend countless hours with 23 other people beating your head against a wall for a particular item only to have it drop for a solo player. don't get me wrong id love to get the same gear as HM raiders but I know that I have to put the work in for it. i just know that my life right now wont allow for something as demanding as raiding on a consistent basis. in closing i do feel its silly that so many people are getting so worked up over the topic. come on its a game.

Funny watching people cry over the fact that there are 2 good items anyone can get regardless of play style. Duck Hat and Myth from Keys. Move on with your life, it's 2 items out of hundreds....

Can someone please explain how what one person gets in the game cheapens the game for someone else...

If you enjoy raiding then YOU ENJOY RAIDING!!! The rewards are secondary... If you are only raiding for the right to say you have the best gear out there then that is just sad. And unless you are soloing raid end game content then it is possible you are getting end game loot because you are with great players not because you are a great player.

Also some raid guilds are only online 10-15 hours a week and complain greatly when group/solo content is required to get the best in slot stuff. Many of them stick to other guildies and rarely pug. Many solo/pug players are online 30+ hours a week and have a large network of friends. I know ex-raiders that are way more skilled than many of the current raiders but time and real life prevents them from raiding, even though they still log in and group when they can.

I am in a top 10 raid guild(server) and like most(if not all) guilds on our server are continually recruiting. While you don't need to have raid gear to raid it definitely helps to have the new recruits in as good as gear as possible. I would rather bring in a solo'er that knows his class than someone who has jumped from raid guild to raid guild collecting raid armor because the guild NEEDED that class even though the player was not that good.

If you enjoy soloing then guess what...you enjoy soloing....

Bottom line--- Let everyone have a path to get gear that is good enough to kill end game raid mobs because that will give everyone a bigger pool to find raiders. Having gear that is stat wise nearly the same but the names and appearance indicates that it was gotten raiding SHOULD be enough for raiders to puff their chests out but of course some prefer to push people down instead of helping them up...

All three keys to unlock these chests are available by doing the solo treasure hunt timed quests, but the chances of revealing a higher tier key is greater when completing the heroic treasure hunt timed quests.

IOW, if you get an Umbrite key from soloing, the chest you open from it shouldn't drop anything better than "solo" loot, & absolutely should not have any chance of even fabled gear, much less mythical.

    Is that what you're saying?

"... or doing solo quests a 5 year old can do to get keys to open a random chest that has a chance at giving some of the best items in game is not something that makes this game enjoyable for a lot of people."

But, it makes the game enjoyable for a lot of others, maybe a lot more people?

Keys remaining tradable and if so will the rewards be heirloom?

If we are talking about time vs reward, then everyone willing to invest should have the chance at something awesome. I use to raid five nights a week, but I no longer wish to be held to a set time to play. That doesn't mean i'm a casual player, or i don't invest countless hours in the pursuit of ultra rare items. So, chest remove the struggle of countless hours learning to beat a raid mob at a chance of loot, but unless you use a point system (i know most do but not all) then rolling on dropped gear is still luck. I farmed nearly 2500 keys since December to earn my bow. Is the quest hard? No., Did I spend a ridiculous amount of time farming these keys? Yes. If the goal is time invested vs reward, then I've earned it. Would I have spent nearly 4 months farming keys for anything less than a super awesome item, no i wouldn't. Keys have helped me stay engaged in content, which is what DB needs, people to to keep playing, not just raiders but as many as possible. I understand that someone could earn just one key and possibly get an ultra rare, but that is nearly unlikely. You could be a new recruit on your first raid or a pick up raid and roll a win(again barring DKP or the likes). This also could be applied to rune drops. I don't have any yet, but I have started farming every day for several hours. I met someone when I started who is a hardcore raider and that person has been farming for nearly seven weeks. If he is willing to spend his seven weeks chasing a rune, why shouldn't he be rewarded greatly? He invested more time farming contested in those seven weeks than he has raiding. So again, his effort should be whats monitored and not limited to whether or not 23 other people were involved...

Not the way I read it i read is as that the heroic level gives a greater chance at the better keys
  11. Jaenis Member

And this is the way it should be. Higher tier, higher chance for higher key, lower tier, a lower chance for a higher key, but still a chance. Can't complain with this after all we are ALL paying a subscription to even do this.

I raid kiddo and I can assure you I am not a basement dweller.

To answer your little ******* question, why do you need raid level gear for solo content? AS gear is virtually good enough to step into Stigyian Raid zone. Gear has little to do with getting invited to a PUG unless you are in AOM gear (then you have a whole new set of issues). When I, or anyone else I know, run a PUG, we want to see you play well. I don't want to waste my time dragging your 2m DPS parsing, can't pay attention to the scipt, assassin (or whatever class you want to suck on) through anything. If you can't execute a script or put out reasonable DPS or keep the group alive - I will replace you. Call me an ******* if you want, I don't care.

Before you run off at the mouth again...you can hit WELL over 5m DPS or keep a group alive with just auto-attack and decent spell rotations for healing.

If the solo player gets the key and "lucks" onto the chest that awards the gear, they did EXACTLY the same thing as anyone else to get it. Far too much of this game is skewed toward raid grouping. Prime example - why should a tradeskiller ever have to raid to get a research assistant? But that's how it is.
If the majority of raid minded people were community oriented, perhaps there would be fewer "solo" adventurers.

Ok, I'll bite. Umm...what are you talking about?
  17. Crastinal Active Member

So... yeah... How about reading the message you're supposed to be quoting? I didn't question anything. Look it up: not a question mark on my post. You seem to be the one asking a generic curse word question.
Now, to answer your generic curse word question, I "need" raid level gear because the devs designed the game in such a way that eventually a solo player may or may not need it, so they created a (rather inefficient) way to randomly get raid loot. If you are cheap enough to be concerned about gear on people who doesn't even play with you, again: you should consider another hobby. If the devs decide solo and casual players don't need that gear, it will be dropped from the table. What I think is particularly RICH is the idea that raid gear should be dropped not to hurt raider's feelings...? And the players who call that one out are the entitled ones...? Yo, do you even lift?

And yet, here we are. The game is basically gear and auto attack now, so I call BS on that one.
As for being called generic curse word, it's not a matter of opinion. You did it yourself. "Run off at the mouth", I think that's how you call it. Whatever that means.

lets take this situation and put it into a real life example, please correct me if my point is completely absurd. in a socialist economy the income (gear) between the lower class (casuals) and upper class (raiders) is reduced if not even. why would someone from the upper class, that has spent countless hours and thousands of dollars on an education, work any harder to make the same as someone in an entry level job? do you mean to tell me that person within the upper class will just defend criminals or research a cure for an illness just because its the right thing to do? why does that person in an entry level job deserve the same pay or benefits as his/her counterpart? money drives the world. how do you earn money? you get an education or you work your way into the position. i am personally an auto parts salesman and i don't feel like i should make 100k a year because the lawyer down the street does. if i want to better myself i need to work for it. just the thoughts of a 26 year old who is 30k in debt without a college degree.
