Costs of hiring a decorator?

Say I wanted to hire someone to decorate one of my homes. How much would it cost to have someone decorate it (ie their fee) and how much would it cost to have them purchase any items/materials to finish the job? I imagine it would vary based on house size/location and item count but I am curious as to what the price ranges would be? Would be MajDul server.

It would depend on how much time and effort it would require of the decorator. That's going to be a factor of how big the house is, whether you are going to provide the rares for any rare items, how elaborate you want it to be, etc.

Your best bet would be to tell us which house it is, and what you want in the way of decorating, and see if a decorator wants to "bid on the job".

What theme you want, or does the decorator have carte blanche. You really need to talk to a few Maj'Dul decorators and get their opinions.

You can post the details here, a lot of Maj'Dul decorators do read this forum. You can also /j Antonia_Bayle.Homeshow and ask for decorators in that channel, though remember folks may be on at any time o' day. Some of the very best decorators on Maj'Dul are raiders, so they wouldn't be available for consultations during raid nights, note.

as far as idea(s) you might want implemented, might I offer the following who are our very own decorators who have taken it upon themselves to Video Tour various homes on all of our servers; while it may be alot to take in, this at least shows you what CAN be done within the Lands of Norrath.

Lastly, how are some videos on how you, yes YOU! can use the free program called Layout Editor to decorate your own home ;)

The second post of The Decorator's Resource (Guides and Links), that starts with Video Tours, at:

    https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...-decorators-resource-guides-and-links.580184/

has links to not only the Layout Editor that Cey mentioned, but also Sennen's OpenLicense one, the Notepad Method, etc. All sorts of options. :)

For me, Sennen's has the easiest learning curve (and you can fiddle about in your house, save your work, and go immediately back to the open layout file; it'll ask politely if you want to update it, since you've changed something, and you say yes, please :D), though JesDyr's Layout Editor has more info on it. Using Notepad to open a layout file is the barest of all the bones, very no-frill, but is fine if you know what the coordinates look like and do. For anything truly fancy, though, you'd have to know precisely what you're doing in order to make it work in Notepad. ;)

Expecting the Original Poster be a new/inexperienced Decorator, it should be considered the Game-resident, Built-in decorating tools are a good place to start with its radial menu.
It should also be stated that one does NOT need to use any third-party layout editor to decorate a house.
These third-party programs allow for very precise movement(s) of items, well beyond the in-game radial menu/mouse use.

This is true! I'm constantly impressed by what folks can do who don't use any separate Editor and get spectacular results, even so. :)

    All I use is the in-game one. . . . .

I have to many tremors and twitches in my hands to use the in-game one. It looks perfect and twitch BAM moved and cannot get it back. Or something looks perfect, I walk to steps around it and it looks like a jumbled mess. But since I have only learned to tile floors so far with the editor, I only have the maximum number of homes with perfectly tiled floors!!! Now I am learning to do walls.

You only use the in game decorating tool, Quiarrah?! Well, I'm doing a video on your HHE19 home on Skyfire today, so I'm really excited to see! Can't wait! :p

I usually use the in game editor for most decorating and the layout editor more for floor tiling since it goes faster and saves me time. And for pricing with decorator I think someone mentioned above if you get a hold of someone and talk to them about their pricing and what you want for your home, size and how detailed and style can make a difference.
