Can't install the game

Hello everyone, I'm trying to install EQ2 for the first time in several years again, and every time I try to install it any which way, something goes wrong. If I install it using steam, about 1.3gb in, Steam crashes, and the entire download starts over, EVERY TIME. So, I figured using steam was more of a luxury anyhow, so I just grabbed the launchpad installer off the website. The launchpad installs just fine, however when I start the launchpad up to download the rest of the game, it gets about the exact same time in before I get this error message:

"The downloaded file does not match what was expected. An update may be in progress. Please try again in 20-30 minutes."

I've tried looking on Google and even the forums here, and I haven't been able to find anything. I tried installing it in the default installation location, I've tried installing it in both Program Files (Separate times of course), and I even tried installing it on a completely new, clean, and empty drive, and no matter what, I get the same error. However, when I did install it in the default install folder, it only downloaded about 250mb and then launched the game; but when I went to change the resolution, the game crashed and refused to open without any error messages.

I absolutely LOVE this game, and I really want to start playing it again, so if anyone can help me, I'll appreciate any information I can get.

Please try anti-virus and try to switch temporarily from WiFi to network cable to see if it helps.

Edited: P.S. Ignore the "For Players that use the Steam Client" section;"H1Z1". Even Daybreak can make the occasional typo.

    (1) Have you tried rebooting your computer? Does that fix it?
    (2) If not, download a fresh copy of the Launchpad installer and re-install. Does that fix it?
    (3) After that, I'd start with resetting your router, eyeballing your firewall(s) etc. as suggested in the Help article Kawoosh linked.

The first thing I would do is verify that none of the files got corrupted. With the full download being ~21 GB, it is not unheard of for glitches to slip through. Granted, the bulk of the files are graphics and sound files, and glitches there probably won't even be noticed, but glitches in code and mission-critical data can definely send things south. After any large content update (major updates like expansions and large content updates) I tend to verify the files, just to be sure.
