What is a mount that is faster than the /claim ones?

Before I quit EQ I never had the plat for a mount, now I do but dont know where to get them. Anyone know of a good mount for ym mage that is nice and fast? (mount speed 4 or 5)

I was reading that the way EQ determines mount speed is basically a check against a list (1-5, 5 being knight or raid level) when the mount is summoned. I dont know what the /claim mounts are for speed, but it would be nice to see what I could get that is jsut as fast but looks better? (The spider mount is really cool looking!)

You'll want ones where the spell effect summons what ends in Run2 or Fast for those speeds. You can buy horses (Slow1 to Run2 speeds) in the bazaar. See http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Items_Mounts. Fast require Pal or Shd AA or raid drops and maybe a few LoN rewards to get that speed. The station cash mounts may be a few that go that fast without having another one. Most of the newer ones that can go that fast are either Run2 if you're not flagged for Fast or Fast if you are (Pal, Shd, have a raid or lon item that innately goes that fast).

The link I provided gives links to many station cash ones also. This post at http://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1351850776129676194#6 list some more mounts. And you could probably check out http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/Category:Loot_(LoN_Card_Type) for the loot cards that may be mounts.

Anyway, once you find the item, just click on the spell link, and the Summon line ends in the speed, Slow1 Slow2 Run1 Run2 or Fast. Also, the higher priced drogma's from Gulf of Gunthak lighthouse will be Run2 also (Large drums, iirc, are the same speed but different look and ride than Chain bridle horses).

EDIT: I should of noted, there is no solid way to tell if a station cash or lon mount works on the flag, other the one specific Ngreth mentioned that works that way. However, what I do, is look up the spell listed on the item, and see if there are two, one for Run2 and one for Fast, and that usually indicates it works on flagged system to increase it's speed. The buffs are the same name, so you can't tell from inspecting the buff. Another way to tell, if you already own the item, is to block the spell id for the Run2 and see if you can still get a buff from the item (assuming you should be flagged for Fast).
