What’s a good server to join (non tlp) that has an active amount of players. I don’t want to end up in a multiboxed player server.

    What level are you?

FV is the highest population and has innate bonus experience.

They are al box servers now

Xegony and Luclin both have HUGE family guilds where you can find people to group with. Black Dragon Legion on Luclin is a PG guildchat guild. I'm not sure about Lions of the Heart on Xegony. but both are good guilds for a returning player to get into.
  5. Randomized Augur

I’ll second Xegony and Lions of the Heart

Oooo. Well, I am not the originator of this thread, but I am a recent returnee. Xegony sounds decent. I already have a Vhivi there teamed up with Lhumari. I shall keep an eye out for Lions of the Heart. Sounds like a decent gathering of kindred souls :)

Check the recruitment boards.. I know they have a post on them to tell you who to talk to.

    Thank you. I will.

What I wished I knew right off the bat when I was a returning player:

    Mercenaries
You can hire one or more mercenaries starting at level 1. Mercenaries are NPCs that takes up a spot in your group and act like a group member. Mercenaries act autonomously according to an algorithm (called a stance in game). A common newbie mistake is to not switch the mercenary from the default "passive" stance to one of the active stances (e.g., "balanced", "reactive", etc.). There are four mercenary types: healer, tank, melee dps, and caster dps.

    Mercenary Journeyman V
Investigator Drolmer (found in Feerot the Dream ) gives a quest called "No Heroism without Fear" which allows you [post 85] to hire Journeyman Rank V [J5] mercenaries. Higher ranked Mercenaries, especially the Journeyman ones, have better stats (higher HP's, AC, Mana, etc) and more stances. If you plan on using a mercenary when you level it is very helpful to have a J5 mercenary with you. Note; all access membership is required for Journeyman mercenaries. Free to play players can still hire apprentice ones.

    Resurrections
With mercenaries, every class now effectively has the ability to resurrect using a healer mercenary. Higher level mercenaries (not sure what level but certainly by level 85) give 96% resurrection.

    Corpse Runs
If you don't feel like getting your corpse, you can go to the Guild Lobby zone (off of Plane of Knowledge) and buy a "soulstone" from the vendors there. Once you hand in the stone to one of the corpse summoners, your corpse will show up at your feet and you can get a rez. Note that this is an expensive route and gets more expensive as you level up.

    Alternate Advancement
There are a number of Alternate Advancement [AA] abilities for all players of all levels, even for Free to Play players. AA abilities can be viewed by pressing "v" if you have a default key-binding. At level 1, you are granted the ability "Throne of Heroes" which will port you to the Guild Lobby (next to Plane of Knowledge). At level 5, players are granted the ability "Origin" which will port you to your starting city where you orignally spawned.

    Veteran Rewards
Starting in the spring of 2020, all players were granted the ability to use all veteran rewards regardless of account history. These are found in the "Special" tab of the Alternate Advancement window. Noteable veteran rewards, among others, include a daily 30 minute 100% bonus to experience, the ability to summon once a day a banker (allowing access to your bank from anywhere), the ability to summon once a day a general goods vendor (allowing you to sell anywhere and buy some common goods like spell reagents and food, etc).

    Class Choices
The Miragul server allows anyone to start a newly minted level 85 heroic character. This allows you to get a feeling for what it is like to play any class with quite a lot of spells, abilities, and alternate advancement abilities. You can try all the classes at level 85 and compare them for free and play them for a little bit. A level 85 character can go back to any content at least up to 65 without hardly any concern whatsoever. Feel free to try a ranger to see what tracking is like, try a monk to try out feign death, try a rogue to sneak/hide your way through a lot of content with tier 2 invisibiilty (better than spells), check out wizard/druid ports, etc.

    Heroic Characters
If you purchase a heroic character in the Daybreak store and delete your character that you boosted to be Heroic, you will be credited with another heroic character boost. This means that you can try out various classes on another server other than Miragul. I've only tried this on one server - didn't look to see if I had a heroic boost available on another server after deleting a purchased heroic server (just rerolled another heroic character on the same server I previously had a heroic character on).

    Server Choice
Firiona Vie is a server with an experience boost compared to live servers. You'll level up faster on that server. That server also has fancy loot rules where most items ignore their "No Drop" status and players are free to trade and sell most items. Live servers have the most convienince because all content is enabled from all expansions. Most/All Time Linked Progression [TLP] servers have slower experience rates than live servers. I have no information about the newer ones (i.e., Mischief).

    Overseer Quests
Once you reach level 85, you can start doing Overseer missions within the Overseer Quest Window. You can do this from anywhere (e.g. Plane of Knowledge). All access members can do 5 missions at a time. Free to play players can do maybe only 2. Missions are available in one of 11 different types (e.g., Plunder, Stealth, Military, Research, Diplomacy, Recruitement, etc). Each type of mission tracks its own progress and there are 5 levels/tiers of missions. Missions last 6 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours. Higher level missions yield more rewards. You can choose what type of reward you want. Reward types range from experience to tradeskill items from various expansions (your choice) to currency for an overseer agent/vendor in Plane of Knowledge to collectable items which helps you catch up with collection achievements (which have their own rewards). My experience is that you can get anywhere from 0.5% to 2.7% of your current level for each mission and this percentage of total experience appears to remain constant as you level up. The overseer quest progress is common to all characters on any specific server; you can choose which character receives the reward for the missions.

    Tradeskills
You can boost most tradeskills to level 54 very quickly, easily, and for free. Go to Crescent Reach, for example, and look for tradeskill quests next to various tradeskill merchants and tradeskill containers. The tradeskill trainer quests NPCs will give you the materials you need to combine to get to 54 so there are no "farming" or tedious collection quests. Even better than that, they will give you more components if you run out of materials. Even better than that you can now combine things in your inventory without placing them in the container and clicking combine (provided you already know the recipe). You only have to click combine in the container [that opens after you click "Experiment"] when you are learning the recipe. Close the container once you have had at least one succesfully combine because you now know the recipe and it'll show up in the "recipe book" and you'll be able to search for the recipe, highlight it, and auto-combine them all in your inventory one at a time with the "make all" option. This is a HUGE help not having to click and move the mouse so much.

    Heroic Adventures
I'm not sure of the best way to get gear after lvl 85 until you are up around 100+, but one way that is easy (and maybe monotonous) is to do Heroic Adventures. Doing the daily from the Teek guy [Clayton?] helps give bonus xp and CotF currency. Most of the missions he offers are from CotF era which gives gear up to lvl 95 and some other items up to 100. Missions scale to the highest level of the person in the group. Mobs hit really hard and have a lot of hit points. They get easier as your learn them and get better gear. Go with 2-3 people plus mercs. You can't really solo these with a fresh heroic character.

    Loyalty Vendor
Characters earn loyalty every week. All access members earn more loyalty than free to play players. There are a couple good things on the loyalty vendor (one is in PoK - eastern section by Crescent Reach stone) and another one is in the Player Housing zone off of the guild lobby (in the little village where stuff is sold). Noteable items for sale are anchor packages and golden tickets. Anchor packages allow you to place the anchor in your house or your guild's guild hall - using the recall device will port you to the anchor. There are primary and secondary anchors so you can put one in your house and another in some other house or in your guild's lobby. Golden tickets let you go to the casino in Shadowhaven (off of the bazaar zone) and win a grand prize. There are like 6 or 8 grand prize items and they are all lore so keeping them all (that you have won so far) in your inventory will [I think] guarantee that you don't get a second one of the same time. Prizes awarded for turning in a golden ticket include "Guise of the Deceiver" (illusion Dark Elf mask for bards and rogues) and "Glowing Black Drum" which will summon a mount (very fast - velocity 75) that is second only to bard speed - about the fastest in the game. The other 6 items are tradable and were very popular back in the day (e.g. Fungus Covered Great Staff, Ton Po's Bo Stick of Understanding, Rubicite Breastplate, etc.)daily

    Portals
A guild hall has a portal that will (for a fee) transport you to many locations, including at least one zone in each major expansion. There is also in the Guild Lobby a magus outside the guild hall doors that will port to all the LDON camps and a few other places. Also, if you started out in Crescent Reach, there is also a portal in that zone to Bixie Warfront. You can take the rope ladder that is near the Hollows zone in the newbie yard outside the zone across the bridge to Bixie Warfront and then going from Bixie Warfront very close to whgere you zone in there is a portal to Tainted Karana which is the hub of CotF where many other portals are (to get to Deadhills, Neriak 4th Gate, etc.). These portal is useful for a number of levels on the way to 100. You have to attune to them first but after that you're good to go.

  10. CatsPaws No response to your post cause your on ignore

There is an in game guild on each server called Novices of (server name) which will allow you to use the guild portal if you are not a member of a guild yet. When you do find your guild you can drop Novices and join the other. Guilds & The Guild Lobby

Magus in the lobby will only port you to one zone but from that zone you can ask for ports to the other camps. If you do the Adventurer's Stone quest you will then give you access to all the LDON camps from lobby Magus

Just enhancing your ideas :) Overall, and we always tell new/returning players is to run thru the tutorial and get the free stuff offered as it will hold you for many levels.

And down load game maps from Goods or Brewell (google)

Edit dunno why it didn't separate my adds separately except at the bottom but read thru the black area for what I added

Don't forget to turn on the autogrant for AAs if you are all acess, it will help a lot. :)

As well as doing the tutorial, I suggest doing the other quests in PoK to learn how other parts of the game works. There is an achievment for it and it points you at what things you need to learn.
