Hello there, I m playing a wiz on phigy and a good EQ friend told that the +10% (35max) of the robe of secret was not so much interesting, just helping not to fizzle on some spell. So my lvl of evocation will just help me not to fizzle my spell and my lvl of specialise evocation will just help me to use less mana on casting. No use for critic and chance to hit ?
Correct. The specialization augs really add up, it's equal to an aug with thousands of +mana over a mana bar.
No, it will not increase the damage of any nuke. But no aug really does that either (spell damage is such a tiny gain its un-noticable from a single aug). Your casting skill prevents fizzles (Which blow a ton of mana) if its low. Your spec casting skill reduces the mana used per cast.
Here's what I have on http://everquest.fanra.info/wiki/Arcane_specialization If someone reading this spots that it has errors or does not apply, please let me know by posting here or it would be great if you would directly fix the article yourself. Thank you.
Not sure what haveing the mod does for sure, but mana usage seems to be tied in some how. We had two identically geared wizards casting relitivaly the same spells in the same group, but one kept running oom while the other seemed to be able to conitinue steady for a much longer amount of time. After a good amount of effort the only noticeable difference between the two was one had an evocation mod and one did not. Granted these where live server wizards at lv 105
That's a modifier for evocation specialization, not the actual evocation skill (which is the modifier on robe of secrets).
That's a very sketchy description of casting behavior. Didja look at actual number of which spells cast?
Nope all I know is that, that wizard has mana issues far more offten then any other. They are not casting any more often then myself. I keep fuse in my main line up while they do not. As far as actually looking at spell counts I have not. It should be pretty easy to debunk if we actually knew what the evocation skill did. Anyway the difference was actually an Evocation specialization mod.
So what happens is there's a conversation like "I cast this spell and this spell and this spell. do you also cast those spells?" and the answer is "yes", but - Critts is multibinding Claw>Gambit>Vortex>Fuse>Skyblaze>Cloudburst, with Rimeblast in his pocket for burns, and Dicho to tap on Gifts. Otherguy is like Dicho>Fuse>Skyblaze>Rimeblast>Claw and doesn't actually cast anything past that ever. He has Vortex loaded to cast when someone reminds him, doesn't know when the Cloudburst is supposed to be a thing, and doesn't like casting Harvest (whoops, old spell set never gets fixed) because it's a 12sec break from nuking. Same spell bars, wildly different results.
Pretty sure they are runing claw, skyblaze, and cloudburst for typical casting and skyblaze rimeblast fuse on a burn. At least that is what I was told. They say they use harvest, robe, and horn clicks so idk.
I'd ask for logs to go over. I've had people tell me the same thing and in the end I'll have like 11 robe clickies a night vs their 4 or I'll have 3x as many gambits. The mod helps a little but not THAT much.
