Basically. Auras follow the caster around while Echos are centered at the spot you cast the spell. It depends whether you're moving with your group for which one you want to use. If the group is staying put and you're going out to pull then use Echo otherwise just stick with auras if you're always with the group.
It's true what Kizant says but from a practical standpoint everyone just uses the regular auras for nearly all situations. The range of the regular aura is pretty generous and suits most needs.This applies to all the echoes imo.
