Iirc you need to give 3250 gold to hasten not 325 plat. The distinction made sense back when the gold weight would slow you down.
The quest say in allakasam 325 p will work and does not matter , if the npc didn't get the correct items , then why it didn't give me back all the items ? Why I have to repeat the quest for a misunderstanding? I am not going to repeat this quest . The ancient ring item takes days to get and I do not have the time to repeat this quest.All developers need to do is make the npc to return items to players if requirement for quest is not met.
This quest was from the era where "multi-questing" was quite common when it came to no-drop items. Effectively, this meant that the last person turning in an item for a quest would get the reward. This quest specifically was notorious for this because that ancient cyclops drop was not common (someone would turn in the ring, then tell you to immediately turn in the plat/rapier to complete the quest for the reward). What this means for you is that if the quest npc thinks the turn-in is still in progress, it will not return anything; rather, it continues to hold what it has received until the final item(s) are turned in to complete the quest. Did you hand in all of the items at the same time (in a single trade window)? If yes, you should not have encountered this issue no matter what. If no, did you at least turn them all in within a few minutes of each other? I ask this because you cannot, for example, turn in an item today and the rest a few weeks from now. If the npc died or there was a zone/server restart, the items previously turned in would be lost. If neither of the above - was someone else nearby when you were turning in items? It sounds like perhaps someone else finished the quest using one or more of your items.
First of all , who all you qbert or whatever? are you Game Master?,Secondly,I turned in all the item same time and I didn't get the reward .Third , if there was players turning items same time as me and one of them stole my quest is not my problem. Like I said I am not going to repeat quest .I want ancient ring back at least.
Why don't you just give me back the ancient ring and problem solve? If yes, you should not have encountered this issue no matter what. no matter what? Everquest bugs all the time.I can show you a list of bugs about this game I having right know. As why I got erroneous lock-time in expeditions when I haven't raid planes for more like 3 weeks and im not able to raid planed permanently? What about necro spell: Renew Bones for heal pet doesn't work anymore and so on and on and on,
325 plat works fine. Doesn't have to be gold. Odds are extremely high that you've made an error during the turn-in. Maybe the wrong shadowed weapon or you accidentally didn't give him enough plat. Just farm it again. You're addressing a regular player, not a GM or developer. That's probably why.
There you go. You can not say no matter what problem won't happen in this game or any game. Beside I'm wasting my time with people can't help other that they don't know nothing cause yes quest can get bugged and before you posting should be investigation of issue which no one here can do other the one in charge of game. I which I can delete this post. This is a waste of time.

LOL this - Agnarr - is for sure an original EQ server! That is exactly how EQ used to play. All that work for a quest or item and then it didn't work right so had to re-do it again and sometimes again! That's life!
Double-check...triple-check...quadruple-check to make sure you have all the items. Then, make sure no one else was there to accidentally do turn-ins at the same time as you. And something would still go wrong...
First of all, regular players DO read these forums, and we as a community try to help with what we know from 18 years of playing this game that we love. Second, I do not appreciate the tone you used. Yes we are regular players and not GM's or developers. If we were, we would have red name on the boards. If you want help, please be nicer and accept that we are here to help you as much as we can. And NO, we cannot return items that got eaten by an NPC. ONLY a GM can do that. Third, whether or not on Agnar the 326 plat will work is a mystery to me. In the olden days (when we had to run up the hills in a snow storm both ways) we HAD to lug around the 3250 gp which was all that Hadden would accept, and yes, he would eat the plat and the other gear and you were stuck either multi-questing it, or redoing the steps. Sorry, that was the way it was and the GM's were always reluctant to help with it. They would say, "sorry that's the way the game works. Please try again." If you do not want to try again (and at this point you will have to since by now someone else has done the quest and eaten your turn in's) then you are out the ring. Sorry. Good luck in the future.
On a pvp server this was more or less a group-escort-quest, since a player weighted down with that much gold was an easy pvp-target, and needed friends to protect him while crawling around in slowmotion. 3250 gold was not an insignificant amount of money back then, and in pvp you could loot money from your victim....
I never played on a PvP server, but I remember crawling around Rathe Mts. when I was doing the JBoot quest back in about 2001 with my warrior. Thank the gods that he had good strength at the time!
If giving platinum didn't work then Hasten would have handed it back. This happened to me a few years ago. I just started handing Hasten platinum one piece at a time till the counter caught up. I'm not sure if the count was off due to someone else giving him an extra coin. For the trouble it caused, Hasten died after giving the boots. He spawned again and passed him on the way out of the zone. I need to do a couple jboots soon and he will die then too. Doesn't everyone kill him after getting jboots?
