Is Anguish “Working as Intended”?

In Plane of Time and Tacvi guilds have split the instances with two raids to get more drops. The goal of course was to get more Quarm and Tunat drops as once you cleared the instance you could swap people in from prior splits that had already cleared their zone.

It really makes it worth the effort to split the instanced raid content as if your main character raided on Night 1, they could still step in on Night 2 to loot something from the zone boss. In theory you could do the split raids concurrently, killing each boss in lockstep with both raids and swap people between the instances to maximize best in slot gear on main characters. That’s the theory anyways, and it’s a logistical nightmare if you did every named that way versus just the final bosses.

Fast forward from the past at least 9 months to Anguish. First split was successful, mains scheduled for raiding the subsequent night were unable to join the DZ to loot OMM drops. This observation is a divergence in practice from the prior two expansions so the questions are:

    1. Were Time and Tacvi NOT working as intended? Should the DZ hopping not have been happening?
    2. Conversely is Anguish NOT working as intended when compared to prior experience with Time and Tacvi?
    3. Are the zones all now working in the same fashion and DZ hopping is now not an option?

Apologies in advance for any nerf bats to Time and Tacvi, but that’s old expansion content now!

Anguish instance locks when you engage OMM. Also be aware if you're trying to "lockstep" two instances, there's a 2 hour replay timer from the moment the aug minis spawn. So you can only move from one to the other after that lockout is over, and of course if you have the same or fewer boss lockouts than the instance you're joining.

Every raid instance has a different lock point. Some are after the boss is killed, some before engage. That dumb raid in Eldar forest locks on request. When we did splits, we did them in lockstep, and it was a pain to swap people between raids. It becomes balance, as is everything in EQ of loot vs time and trouble.

I'd say it's working as intended, and sorry your BP dropped in the good raid, better luck next time.

I feel like by far the most likely result of this thread is getting a replay timer added to Time and Tacvi...

Yeah you've just made sure that instance hopping like this isn't going to work next patch.

Anguish is definitely working as intended. Like someone else already pointed out it locks the instance when OMM is engaged.

You still want to split it to get double+ the loot, but you can't cross loot. It's really not that big of a deal.

Weird that you guys are splitting it across nights though. We always split it concurrently.

You can mitigate this by sending in a group or two to pre-clear the 38 mobs (leave 2 at entrance up) and then send in a small team to finish off the last 2 to pop the commanders. Hold instances until raid time, and boom - no replay timers for anyone.
