So long story short, I lost one account because I payed a few krono's for a heroic character bundle almost THREE MONTHS AGO! Needless to say that character was now nearly maxed out with raid gear...and it's gone, even though I payed for it...however that's not the interesting part. I contacted the person I purchased it from, who in turn contacted the person I assume he purchased it from...and within about 20 minutes I'm on a conference call and they are talking about a class action law suit, anyone know if that's possible? Apparently there are people that lost much more than 1 account...some one threw out 80 accounts, 15 accounts etc...I can't imagine these people are too happy. Seems kinda insane that it would take 3 months to track down a bad product code.
A friend of a friend of a site who shall not be named? Nothing shady in that at all. Wouldn't have raised any red flags for me.
most companies have teams of lawyers to limit their exposure to lawsuits but who knows about DBG. I'd think the parent company columbus nova does and i really really doubt at the end of the day the players will have the grounds to take anything to a court of law
The irony of it all is that the CC's used to buy the expansions, and heroic toons, and all that were probably the ones "compromised" when SoE got hacked and hid it from us until they couldn't hide anymore. G2A is one of the biggest 3rd party "resellers" on the globe, and people who bought things from Steam were also hit. A blanket ban on any account is beyond stupid, especially when they began to see the number of accounts "hit". The fact that RadarX also deferred instead of answering like a good community relations specialists is typical of SoE/DBG...They just better hope they have a way or recouping the massive amounts of money potentially lost from the accounts, or a much better "we're sorry" excuse.
Well they are reversing it, but the person I talked with definitely was a lawyer and definitely thought there was a case here but idk, it's just a game and getting my account back is nice...seems REALLY ridiculous it took 3 months to find out a cd-key was bad. I've never once had billing issues or any other issues with DGB and have a 17 year vet account.... Friend is also saying they blanket banned EVERY steam purchase, not just bad ones...and even the bad ones weren't a chargeback, essentially some guy figured out how to use currency exchange to get the codes for pennies on the dollar then re-sold them for US dollars via paypal and made a killing.
What kind of class action lawsuit would you have? They can shut down the game and suspend accounts at any time. Other than suing for paid game time you haven't used yet, there isn't anything you could possibly sue about. It is possible I supposed, and maybe after 3 years of litigation you might actually win...about $.03 each.
They are all on multiple games now...and well with EQ1 being at the bottom of the totem pole and all......
Even if you sued, and won, you'd still lose... The only people who "win" in these situations are the lawyers.

IN BEFORE THE LOCK Good luck. Git gud at shady business deals if you want to pursue that route, it is not for the faint of heart. Also it shouldnt take you more than a month maybe 2 to catch upto where the character you had was NBD.
Thanks for this. After a long exhausting day, I needed the laugh. In all seriousness though, this won't happen and I am too tired to explain the litany of reasons as to why. There was a happy ending at the end of the day and people should just leave it at that.
Are happy endings $5 or $40 here? Can they be gifted? Are they available on Steam? From your tone, I'm guessing your happy ending cost more. I believe DBG and this community owe you one.
I don't know about anyone else, but that strikes me as hilarious. There's an ambulance, quick, let's chase it. Ma'am, did you fall on someone's property? Can you say you did? I have a doctor who will provide evidence that you slipped on ice? What do you mean it's 90 degrees out. It was ice. . . . Lawyers see class action cases in the patterns of the wall paper and the shadows on the floor. The fact of the matter is that someone fraudulently bought these things, sold them to others and collected the money, then charged back and didn't pay the initial cost (basically sold stolen items.) People at the end of the line got screwed, but that would have happened no matter where you bought the stolen items.
Must be a very young lawyer... With class action, there are a number of pre-trial procedural requirements. One is having the class defined and certified by the courts; however, the most crucial requirement is proving what the actual damages are of monetary value. What makes this incredibly murky is EverQuest is a service, not an investment - and investment of time for the sake of personal entertainment does not count in the eyes of the law. So what were the real damages, or even could have been the damages had the bans stayed? Too tough to prove and honestly, would not be worth enough money to any attorney.
