Catching Up

One of the major factors in the current design framework is that we have this massive game. It is system built upon system after system by many people over twenty years now.

The Overseer system was designed in part to allow for catch up, however the quantity and quality of rewards system is flawed or lowered. There are some who do not like the system because it does not present enough of a challenge or interest.

    Overseer System

The basic designs of the system are interesting. Overseers are fairly linear in design and there are no ways to add in customization. This is by design, as complexity increases relative to moving higher into the system.

The trade skill rewards are too small to be of any significance. They help, however when trying to level up for rewards and such it does not add to the metric necessary. There are some adjustments that could be made such as allowing longer timers to get more materials as well as introducing more complex missions that have higher yields.

The collectibles are going to change, and in part it is a fair system.

    Other rewards:

Evolution Item Experience: This can be the VOA augment or the current earring, having different items that can be used to boost experience would assist with catching up.

Faction: Some people raided Plane of Growth, it would be nice to be able to fix this faction. There are other older factions that could be added into the quest system that could be chosen from an NPC to increase specific factions to help with old quests.

    Vanguard Diplomacy System

The game has a very complex old world faction system and a whole faction window and an achievement system. Having a system set up in game developed similar to the Diplomacy System from Vanguard would use older development and areas that would allow for increases in the current system.

Diplomacy is a game, and you make choices that affect your character. This was considered one of the best developed aspects of Vanguard and the most fun.

This system could be used to repair factions, allow for people to gather rewards to catch up, and to have something to do during down time or after having completing most of the expansion. The quests would have to be fun enough to be rewarding, however titles, factions, collection items, and other materials would add to the system.

    Collection and Hunter

    Hunter

Drop from nameds and from Overseer missions that gives hunter credit that is able to be traded, similar to a collectible. This would create an economy and decrease catch up time.

    Collection

    1. Increase the respawn time, increase the drop rate. Some of these items are just absurdly rare which creates the problem. Also, moving around an entire zone is not exceptionally fun for some of us because of zone design.

The time aspect to some collections is what ruins the fun. We have people who will farm specific zones and such for ground spawns. This creates scarcity. Ground spawns should spawn in more locations and faster to account for higher population servers. With server mergers this will only become more of a problem.

    2. Collection Tracking

Track exists. A new skill similar to sense heading should be added to locate collectibles on a map within an area or something that functions similar to track. Dwarves should have a bonus to this ability, since they originally had a sense heading skill bonus.

    Flags

Removing flags from the design aspect of the game was one of the best design choices this expansion. EOK and ROS both have severe backflagging issues.

    1. Essence of the Dragon II This as a back flag should drop in the Gorrowyn raid and increased in the Korsha Raid after a certain time period after expansion content is defeated. This is one of the areas that has massively slowed down guilds.

    2. Flags from past expansions should be shared at the account level, not at the individual character.

-People have multiple characters and to help with raids do switch in different characters which disrupts the amount of non flagged people in a raid when a specific class is necessary. This also makes people who want to switch mains having an easier time to catch up.
-People have already defeated the raid enough to earn the flag. Creating any more obstacles for multiple characters is a problem for people with multiple characters.

I thought they were useless until someone told me they are useful for those who's skill is 300+ to get a few items to learn the new recipes needed to advance.
