Beast lord pets in level 65 eras and pet toys

A guild mate told me that you should only give a beast lord pet Hands of Ixiblat because the pets have high H2H skill but terrible accuracy with other weapon types. Is this accurate? It feels like it could be an urban legend but given how many absurd features and design quirks this game has, I could see it.

Extensive parsing in this thread on this topic: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/bst-pets-accuracy-weapon-type.245521/
    tl;dr: yup.

I've been meaning to test this on current TLP-era pets but haven't taken the time to yet. My guess is that mage weps would still be a net gain on TLP if accuracy is negatively affected because the procs have a higher max hit than your warder's melee. As they discuss it's likely a question of if the proc damage makes up for lost melee damage, which I think would be possible on TLP in this era.

Also! If this question is regarding Agnarr: the best weapons you can use on your pet for raiding vs. motm mobs are anything with a jolt component (e.g., symphonic saber, fellspine).

    Great info there, thanks!

Do you know of any parse that uses the H2H pet toy, Hand of Ixiblat? I’m wondering if it behaves differently than swords and daggers

I went and tested things! And I found things!
Level 70 pet spell, Spirit of Rashara w/ Servant of Chaos focus. 16 Ranks of Companion's Fury.
All tests had Spirit of Irionu, Arag's Celerity, Might of the Wild Spirits (2.0 buff), and were given a Muzzle of Mardu (11% haste).

Test #1: No weapons, 302 seconds
    Bozee`s warder -vs- Test Seventy: -- DMG: 51292 -- DPS: 170 -- Scaled: 170 -- Bite: 33338 -- DirDmg: 17000 -- Bash: 954 -- % dmg as normal: 94.4% -- % dmg as critical: 5.6% -- Non-crit rate: 96.1% -- crit rate: 3.9% -- Attempts: 753 -- Hits: 508 -- Missed: 245 -- Accuracy: 67.5% -- Avg Hit: 100 -- Max hit: 205 --

Test #2: 2x Hand of Ixiblat, 319 seconds
    Bozee`s warder -vs- Test Seventy: -- DMG: 52365 -- DPS: 171 -- Scaled: 164 -- Bite: 31150 -- DirDmg: 19974 -- Bash: 1241 -- % dmg as normal: 96.4% -- % dmg as critical: 3.6% -- Non-crit rate: 97.5% -- crit rate: 2.5% -- Attempts: 765 -- Hits: 519 -- Missed: 246 -- Accuracy: 67.8% -- Avg Hit: 100 -- Max hit: 205 --

    Test #3: 2x Fireblade, 304 seconds
    Bozee`s warder -vs- Test Seventy: -- DMG: 39380 -- DPS: 130 -- Scaled: 130 -- DirDmg: 20909 -- Slash: 17460 -- Bash: 1011 -- % dmg as normal: 93.6% -- % dmg as critical: 6.4% -- Non-crit rate: 95.3% -- crit rate: 4.7% -- Attempts: 740 -- Hits: 384 -- Missed: 356 -- Accuracy: 51.9% -- Avg Hit: 102 -- Max hit: 205 --

So no weapons is basically a wash with the 2x Hand of Ixiblat. Only noticeable difference is Critical% which could just be RNG. With the AAs the pet should have a 5% critical hit chance on melee, and this doesn't set off alarms for me. I also don't feel like opening R for this. Proc damage higher by 2k w/ hands, bite damage lower by 2k.

Fireblade though, something's going on. Accuracy falls off the table. We see DD damage increase by ~3.9k compared to no weapons, but melee damage is noticeably affected by the loss of accuracy.

Since both pet innate and epic procs do more damage than the pet weps, I would say this means to leave your pet unarmed.

@Prathun (does @ tagging even work here?) Assuming accuracy loss w/ non H2H weps is not intended?

Thanks for the parse data! That's very helpful. Summoning weapons is annoying, it's good to know at least that it's kinda of pointless for a BST pet.

More tests, more controlled. Level 70 pet spell (Spirit of Rashara). 16 ranks of Companion's Fury AA. No pet focus. No buffs. Arena, level 70 test npc (Test Seventy). First test (603s) is with no items on the pet.

    /tell Bozee Bozee`s warder -vs- Test Seventy: -- DMG: 23986 -- DPS: 40 -- Scaled: 40 -- Bite: 23133 -- Bash: 853 -- % dmg as normal: 93.2% -- % dmg as critical: 6.8% -- Non-crit rate: 95.7% -- crit rate: 4.3% -- Attempts: 638 -- Hits: 392 -- Missed: 246 -- Accuracy: 61.4% -- Avg Hit: 61 -- Max hit: 181 -- DMG to PC: 0

If you pull out just the bites, it's 563 attempts w/ 212 misses for 62.3% accuracy

Second test (601s), I handed the pet 2x Fireblades. Same pet, didn't move, positioning was identical and it was the same Test Seventy npc from the first test. Still no buffs, and no items other than the swords.

    /tell Bozee Bozee`s warder -vs- Test Seventy: -- DMG: 14274 -- DPS: 24 -- Scaled: 24 -- Slash: 8226 -- DirDmg: 5057 -- Bash: 991 -- % dmg as normal: 95.6% -- % dmg as critical: 4.4% -- Non-crit rate: 97.2% -- crit rate: 2.8% -- Attempts: 702 -- Hits: 288 -- Missed: 414 -- Accuracy: 41% -- Avg Hit: 49 -- Max hit: 173 -- DMG to PC: 0

If you pull just slashes, it's 589 attempts w/ 388 misses for 34.1% accuracy

That's a big accuracy loss and procs don't make up for the misses.

Out of curiosity, does Test Seventy have any noteworthy high resists? On a lot of fights the mobs will be partially resist debuffed. Wonder if that would affect procs at all
