just found out cant be in hover mode to get an aerez, why? that makes no sense to me. being out of combat ok but not hovering?
This is just an assumption, but I would guess that the spell was designed as a means to quickly rez the raid after a complete wipe / reset; not save a raid that is half wiped mid combat.
tahts why gotta be ooc but a cleric that banners in out of combat taht casts it before people zone through it wont hit
You could just leave a cleric off aggro in case of a half wipe, or leave one standing by for things to turn ugly in the middle of the raid and banner in. Sony knows people in this game will do whatever it takes to take advantage of any little thing, even if it is slightly off.
Haven't raided int two expansions but with all the fades/instant abilities.. is there still such a thing as a complete wipe?
When there are events with AE DTs yes, Also, raid mobs that can chain search the zone for any living PC FD, Faded, etc until reset... yes. They won't go after those people who have escaped until everyone else is dead, but you can't always just hang out. If you're in zone and an AE hits you you're done.
