Exp was changed to TOV Hero Missions? Why?

I would bet cash money that at least one of the devs has spent serious time coming up with ways to nerf exactly that.

The devs disagree with your assessment, clearly.

I still find it reasonably fun up to 70/80 or so, depending on the class.

After that, exp per kill is so brutally low that you really have to be focused on something other than exp because playing to watch your exp bar is downright demoralizing.

Having seen a recent post about a level 1 beating Vox / Nagafen via personas, I can see this nerf being a potential knee-jerk reaction to situations where any low-level persona can access huge exp benefits from killing mobs way higher than their persona level.

If this is so, it's a cr*p response to a very short-sighted vision.

We already have minimum levels to get into the tasks, if you are 'high' enough to get into the task, you should get the full exp reward, not have it capped. Just change the minimum level to get into the tasks if you're that concerned about some of us finding a way to get through the 100 - 110.

It's not as if we're stealing any exp, doing those tasks earlier means they're not available to us at 110+.

But that's the way these types of changes happen:

    1. Some dev gets wind of players doing something...completely within the rules of the game...that greatly benefits said players.
    2. Dev gets mad.
    3. Dev has knee jerk reaction and nerfs the holy crap out of whatever it is and punishes every player in the game.

Like I said earlier, they were perfectly fine with the way xp was earned for FOUR DAMN YEARS (since the move to achievements/progression as the primary way to level). I want to know what triggered them into doing this.

idk I did it on a non persona shaman last year, at lvl 4 Naggy and lvl 6 Vox, I didn't get amazing xp though, Xp per kill was capped then too. Seems this is more of a "other sources" issue because some things like turning in Serpents Seeker Charm of Lore, could get you lvls 5-40 in about 5 minutes. This was a very big edge case, because who in their right mind would have all those items to turn in at lvl 5 =-D (besides me)

I sigh heavily whenever I see most of these recent "improvements" to the game. There's a part of me that says the upper management are trying to make changes for the betterment of EQ. There's another part of me that says stakeholders want EQ1 to busy itself in stupid modifications to the point of disappearing so that they can put the money from their top revenue-earning product into something else.

I find this funny...but not ha ha funny.

So my 125 paladin could get more of a level doing 5 year old progression than by doing current progression and more than my level 111 characters can get killing level 116 mobs? The experience per kill in kael at 111 is 0.107%.

It's also more experience for the progression, 22% and 20% respectively on the level 111 characters.

Put grind experience back in the game.

Not necessarily. They dont like it now... was it an issue back then? Dunno.
  10. I_Love_My_Bandwidth Mercslayer

Do you think they made this specific change by accident? Quite an obtuse assertion, if so.
  11. Corwyhn Lionheart Guild Leader, Lions of the Heart

No I am saying that what they did before was not an accident. It was fine before but now they have changed their mind about it. I find it hard to imagine they just noticed this and said "oh my bad we didn't mean to do this"

or Redguides / Macaroni / ISB / anything but within the game itself, we have leeches to feed and we swear fealty to them over players.

WHAT MACROING? WE DON'T SEE ANY MACROING?

I swear it's dev alt accounts selling PLs for Krono. Why else would their loyalties be to the cheating?

Who knows EQ code enough to write these programs?
  13. I_Love_My_Bandwidth Mercslayer

    Ahh, I understand.

I'll be honest, I found the timing of the change pretty strange. But that's with so many things through the years. One such instance was Heroic Adventure level scaling. What an absolute disaster for something so completely unnecessary.

I'd like to see this 200% cap removed. But Meeko seems pretty set on the change. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or the casino thats always running in pok how is it they keep going with no punishment? pretty sure casinos arent allowed in game. I had to turn off randoms because i got tired of seeing random rolls from the casino when i was in it. PoK small bank area i go there for the tradeskill vendors.

as far as I know, Casinos have been fine as long as they do and reward what they say. Any players can ageree to any exchange of plat for any reason, even dancing (with no armor!) on the docks in South Ro for plat.

just don't take and steal people's money and you're good.
