Why do people get to 50 like their lives depend on it?

Sometimes I rush to end game in less than 2 days, too. Or at least within the first 5 by hitting the popular camps with heavy grind groups.

But there are times I like to group up with guildies who prefer to travel off the beaten path and hunt in spots with a lot less traffic. There are often guildies who also have a goal while they are leveling up which they prioritize over getting to 50, such as getting Journeyman's Boots (JBoots), getting Golden Efreeti Boots (GEBs), etc.

Hitting level 50 in the first few days has some advantages. If you don't care for those advantages, why worry about it? Let others play how they want. It's not sad, it's just not what you would prefer to see them do, apparently.
