Behind not allowing it to work on raid flagged mobs? Not like an 8K hit is overpowering these days. Most melle cric near that and spells can easily crit for 10x that. So why not allow it on raid mobs? I think the concept is great! It has folk running all over the world looking for mobs to get the achivments. Gives you something to do if you can only log in for a short while, or have difficulty finding a group. Please consider changing it to work on raids.
Well if it worked on current content then you could hit the raid target for 8k damage multiplied by the number of raiders present instantly every 60 seconds.
Theoretically you might get the whole raid to use it, but in reality 1. the range is terrible on it, so mechanically you would eliminate a good portion of raiders, and 2. healers aren't likely to be trying to switch target to use it. Even if you coordinated 30 of your raiders to use it effectively, thats only 240K every minute..thats one good twin mage nuke. Since its really a novelty fun ability, I agree with Greym that it would be cool, and lore-worthy if after getting the achievement, it worked in a raid situation.
That's assuming you have 1) a full raid, 2) every raider has the bane, 3) every raider is able and willing to move into melle range to trigger it. Yes it is possible, probable? Not so much. Even if they changed it so it would work on the trash / adds it would be preferable. Seems odd that the adds/trash count towards getting the banes but are not usable.
I think banestrike was implemented for OCD people. The damage it does is so small as to be virtually irrelevant in all current content anyway. Just ignore it.
That's what it is now . . . but there is a lot more in the spell file indicating it will eventually be 20k+ . . . and who knows if the amounts coded are the maximum forever, it could be much more powerful in a few years for all I know.
20k will be a pretty weak for banestrike at level 150 I'm sure. current banestrike is number XXI. the last few ranks are all 5 levels apart (85, 90, 95, 100, etc). assuming that continues the XXXI banestrike will be at level 150 (20k dmg)
The message that plainly states that you can't use it on Raid mobs if you try clicking it says it doesn't work.
The 8k is unresistible, it works on mobs that are immune to spells normally, so that might be a raid issue. The funnier part, is that theres the banestrike for the avatars/gods...but all those are raid flagged, so its worthless to have them as part of banestrike haha
No. [1310] Porlos' FuryClasses: WIZ/60 Skill: Evocation Mana: 450 Consumes: [Item 10028] x 2 Target: Old Dragons Range: 200 Resist: Unresistable Casting: 6s, Recast: 5s, Rest: 1.5s 1: Decrease Current HP by 2000 Text: Your soul is assaulted by the ages. Consumes your target in the fury of Porlos, causing #1 damage to certain types of dragons. Consumes a pair of peridots when cast. That's unresistable, a number of Velious Dragons are immune to spells cast outside of melee range, Unresistable trumps immune and Wizards can nuke those Dragons from a distance with this spell. [37689] Banestrike XXITarget: Single Range: 500 Resist: Physical -10000 Casting: 0s 1: Decrease Current HP by 8000 Your mastery of slaying creatures of this type allows you to strike your foe for #1 damage. That's resistable, it will not trump immunity but will land on any mob that is not immune.
That would have to be a change within the last 14 months. Untestable now but well known at the time, Wizards could snare anything (also pets and Cryomancy) even mobs that explicitly state in game they are immune to movement reducing spells. Atol's Unresistable Shackles: 2011-11-14 21:32 : Changed Resist from Unresistable to Magic
Atol's never worked on the ones that said they were immune to movement spells, but Cryomancy did. That got removed a fair while ago, though.
Ahaha I would never be so happy to wipe in a raid, as to see the target get achievements on player races
